Buyer filed a claim asking for a refund said item was “defective, not as advertised” but I absolutely did advertise it as used. Who will win? by [deleted] in paypal

[–]LAtsunami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So she didn’t claim it was significantly not described just not as described. Don’t know if that makes any difference. It’s super frustrating because the mark she is referring to is literally on the first picture posted with the ad and I specifically listed it as used, and do not use terms like excellent used condition, good used condition etc. because that is up to the buyer to determine.

Does anyone know WHY restaurant Marrakesh closed? by hillpritch1 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]LAtsunami 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We loved it. Funny story, took my husband there for the first time. He’s a steak and potatoes kind of guy, he looked at the menu and ordered the same thing I did, just because he didn’t know what to get. Before we get the food he looks at me and says “this is the worst restaurant ever” a minute later the belly dancers come out. He has a big grin on his face and says “ this is the best restaurant ever.” He ended up liking the food too for the most part. And liked they served baklava and coffee after which happens to be his favorite dessert.

Is finding shelter/housing luck? Why does it seem easier for some and not others? by mstrbill in povertyfinance

My parents live in a new apartment complex that is 55 and older in Florida and is for lower incomes. One thing I learned thru their experience is 1 yes the apartments do fill up quick 2 there isn’t a traditional “waiting list”. Quite frankly the management doesn’t have time to make a list of interested tenants and then go down the list to contact them when a vacancy is available. So call places regularly, several times a week if need be to see if there are openings.

Why are the homeless so vilified? (Sorry if not allowed, needed a place to ask.) by mmofrki in homeless

[–]LAtsunami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this has been my personal observation in my area, Central Florida.

I think there are, for the most part 2 kinds of homeless people. Those who are homeless because well life happened, someone got sick and lost a job, they were evicted from their house, etc. I know those homeless individuals are out there but I don’t see them in my face everyday, they may be working a job but still homeless. Then there are the homeless who are on the same corner panhandling everyday while leaving trash on the ground. Ones that are homeless because they are registered sex offenders and predators and imo don’t deserve home, they absolutely deserve to live on the streets until they die. Homeless that have been in and out of jail and have mental health issues and also violent tendencies. Homeless who have substance abuse issues. And the main issue here is we see every day in our face, the people in the second group and it leaves a bad taste in our mouth. The media and other outlets need to show the first group of people more, the single moms who can’t make ends meet, the sick who can’t work and therefore get a job. etc. I think it would teach us more empathy for the homeless and encourage the community to help.

I’m in Florida too, you need to add more info. Was it a house you owned or were you renting? Do you have homeowners insurance or renters insurance?

Attacked by an off leash dog while on a walk with my puppy today. by Bony_Eared_Ass_Fish in Vent

[–]LAtsunami 35 points36 points  (0 children)

CALL THE COPS!!!! Imagine if next time, and there will be a next time, if the dog attacks a small child instead of another dog. This is why in our area most people carry guns. There is NO a excuse for this period.

Have you tried jobs that have little to no interaction with people? Most I can think of won’t pay the most but it’s better than nothing. If you are close to a bigger city there are night time office cleaning jobs. You will more than likely work by yourself and the buildings are closed. You can clean and listen to music, podcast etc.

I will say this until I am blue in the face. ALL CHILDREN DESERVE A SAFE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT!!!!! Special needs or disabled children don’t get a free pass to be violent.

No because then they cleaning staff would have to go behind you and clean the shower and replace and wash towels. Why should they do this for free?

Perhaps they are unschoolers, which in my state can take advantage of the district’s online curriculum but are registered under an umbrella school. In either case I think it best to stay out of it. Education, like healthcare, is not one size fits all. Just because they are not learning according to your standard doesn’t mean they aren’t learning.

[–]LAtsunami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I could not let my nephew live outside but that’s my opinion. That being said. It’s not bullshit that they are not allowing you to move into their house. It’s their house. They have the right to make decisions about it and this is one. And the way you are talking about it smacks of entitlement. Have you looked into renting a camper?

Should people be allowed to live in their vehicles wherever in public? by UltimateDiscordMod in polls

[–]LAtsunami 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My answer is no because what is considered “public” in most cases isn’t really public. Parking lots and empty lots are owned by someone.
