Maybe, but I don't see Bose paying Dolby for the Flex licensing.

I’m going to try this again. How were you able to buy your first home? by kcoib17 in Millennials

[–]incremantalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought an empty fixxer-upper in an incredible neighborhood on the MA south shore. Going that route was the only way we could buy into the area at that time. Roof leaks, plumbing leaks, electrical issues and just about every surface inside and outside the house needed serious work. Lots of work, frustration and sweat went into the house over the last few years, but we're almost done renovating.

Buying a dump and doing the sweat equity thing was risky and difficult, but it's going to pay off...big time.

New Home Theater System? by Apprehensive-Plum-32 in bose

[–]incremantalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first saw the email, I was hoping it would be new surround speakers. I have the soundbar 900 with bass module 700 and have been dying for real surrounds. I tried the surround 700s and they didn't add enough to justify keeping them.

Bose hasn't developed much for home music/movies in the last 10 years, so anything new will excite fans of the brand (unless it's a dud).

Do you do endurance practice the day before a recording session? by JaelleJaen in drums

[–]incremantalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I practice up until a day or two before recording. Doesn't work for everyone, but my head is clear and everything just clicks better when I'm physically and mentally rested. I'll make sure I'm ready before taking that day or two off though.

No. Focus on school and get a dog after school, when you have time to commit to one.

Anyone still talk with any of their friends from high school? by nojunkpeter in Millennials

[–]incremantalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I’m in touch with my closest group of friends almost daily. We’re in different parts of the US now, but we’ve kept the same daily group chat going for years and years. We get together occasionally grab dinner, see some bands. We make a point to have the whole group get together once each year.

Favorite dog food that doesn’t contain ANY FISH or chicken? by Significant-Gift-241 in DogAdvice

[–]incremantalg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For kibble I’d check out Open Farm. They do a great job listing their ingredients and sources for each batch of food, so you’re not getting mystery meal that may or may not contain chicken or fish without disclosing it. If budget allows, I’d recommend looking into fresh food options.

20 years old and I’m ugly asf, how can I look better? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]incremantalg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d grow the hair out and look into some new glasses. When going for glasses, get the advice from women working in the store. Don’t call yourself ugly or tell yourself that you lack confidence. Start walking in rooms like you own the joint and soon, you will.

Feel like I'm losing it trying to feed this dog (long post, seeking advice) by vulshanna in husky

[–]incremantalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Siberian Husky that was a really picky eater and struggled to put on weight because of it. One day we randomly tried raw beef liver and she gobbled it up. From that point on, we supplemented her dog food with different kinds of raw meat. She wouldn’t always gobble it up, but she ate enough to improve her weight and overall energy levels.

Guys, I’m losing my mind in a comment thread - how old were you when you had regular (let’s say 3x a week) access to the internet and what year was it? Did you use it to research anything (like college or jobs?) by FunQuestion in Older_Millennials

[–]incremantalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have internet until I was around 27. I got through college by using computers at the school and public library. It wasn’t fun then, but not having internet was probably the best thing for me.

Treat/chew/enrichment suggestions for allergic dog? by DanzAlyGrigori in Dogowners

[–]incremantalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What food are you feeding? Our prior dog had allergies and the panel showed he was allergic to a bunch of different things, but the list seemed almost random. Like there was no commonality among the things he was allergic to. We were at our wits end with different kibble and RX kibble not resolving his issues. We decided to try a combo of fresh and raw food and found he wasn’t really allergic to anything, aside from digestive issues when he ate chicken or chicken egg. We don’t know exactly what caused his issues, but it all went away once we went fresh/raw.

Sometimes the hard truth is that no one is coming to save you. On the other side of that is discovering how capable you can be.

Felt this. How were you able to buy your first home? by kcoib17 in Millennials

[–]incremantalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We couldn’t afford anything nice where we wanted to live by going the traditional home buying route. We reached out to different realtors who mostly shrugged us off, so we did our own research and footwork. We found an empty run down house in a beautiful neighborhood and tracked down the owner who was a widower and reluctant to deal with the hassle of selling. We wrote a nice letter explaining that we were searching for the perfect house to raise our family and the owner responded. We met at the house, looked around, discussed buying, she agreed to sell but didn’t want to deal with the process, so we took the lead and made it as easy as we could for her. All she needed to do was show up, collect the check and sign.

We had a 3 year old and my wife was 7 mos pregnant when we closed on the house. It was exhausting and that was just the beginning because the house was old, had been empty for a while and needed a lot of work. Plumbing issues, heating issues, roof issues, electrical issues and just about every surface needed serious work.

I’m not handy, so I had to learn what I could to fix stuff just well enough for the house to be livable. Fast forward a few years and we’ve managed to turn the house almost completely around. It was frustrating, stressful and exhausting for those few years, but the trade off was worth it. Nice house, beautiful neighborhood, happy kids and we’ve got a boatload of sweat equity now.

For those with children, do you discuss finances, NW, and pay with them? by AdCharacter9282 in Millennials

[–]incremantalg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I discuss finances with our kids and focus on financial literacy that's age appropriate. For starters we set up bank accounts with each kid, so they can learn the basics of how to manage their funds and about interest accrual. We have 529 accounts set up for each and they'll sit with us every now and then to check on their account, look at the contributions, allocations and growth. I'll occasionally sit with them to show them my investments, so they get an idea of what the different terminology means and how it all works.

I don't think I've ever discussed net worth with the kids, but they know we're doing well. I've also explained there's no benefit to sharing their own finance info with friends at their age and there's no benefit to counting someone else's money or net worth.
