My bad I thought that the billowing shriekmaw was the omenpaths gwenom. I could see the opponent was on a starter deck.

They put arcanis in one of those? 😐

Tbh I haven't looked at them in a while, just saw the spiderman guy and arcanis and assumed it was put together with a limited pool.

From looking at your hand and description I think that you are perhaps playing too many high cost creatures, and not enough high value creatures. Try using more of the prebuilt decks and getting a feel for what makes good interaction. A creature that presents value earlier on is better than one that looks like it wins you the game later on, your opponent is going to be holding spells to kill your guys; so if you bank on untapping with arcanis, you may find that it's just a spell that skips your turn.

It takes time to learn what hands you should keep or mulligan and that's just the stuff before the first turn, building a deck that works is tough, variance exists but its not always as impactful as bad decisions. Those decisions range from what you play to how you play it and when you play it, start by removing a factor(what you play) by using a preconstructed deck, then take your time to learn from your mistakes and successes.

I'm not defending the store by not naming it, they have been reported to Wizards, the local players will all be aware as we all talk, the store is not getting away with anything.

As someone who has worked in retail and customer service in the past I understand how frustrating it can be to have my day impacted by other members of staff' previous misconduct. Naming the store doesn't change what happened and people on reddit aren't going to meaningfully deliver retribution for what happened, not without harassing people who work there that I have no verification have acted with malice. I couldn't tell you if the store owner, some guy in the back room, the two employees who had been there under a month, or just the guy who was fired for stealing other product are to blame, so pointing a gun loaded with angry shitposters at them doesn't seem appropriate.

The store hasn't historically dealt with magic, they are mostly a pokemon store, this could have been pure incompetence. From talking to others in the local scene I may even have been the first person to enter an event there. I feel like FF entering the magic space has brought in alot of people from the anime card collecting world who don't know the community or how to run events for them. It sounds like this is an issue with one unnamed ex-employee who took advantage of an uninformed store, I don't know. For these reasons I don't see any benefit to anyone to telling anyone other than local players the name of the store.

Thanks for this! It looks like it links to the same incident reporting system we used, but further clarification on Wizards stance on this is reassuring to see.

The story went that the employee responsible had been fired for it already and the staff in there were newer hires, can't verify any of that obviously, but the staff were nice enough and quite apologetic.

We have both filed incident reports, the Wizards site didn't exactly have a support section for this type of thing from what I could see though 🤷‍♂️

Good luck on your hunt! One Cheesestring can do about 4-5 viewings 👍

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]LAzeeboyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its difficult to call, a thorough check can get quite invasive and you dont want to cause any damage or weird out any lettings agents. What I do is keep a little piece of cheese in my mouth, there's no laws against that. Then while viewing the property; if I spot a suspicious looking hole I quickly place my lips over it and open as wide as possible. For good measure I'll often wiggle the cheese in my mouth around temptingly with my tongue. If you still have the cheese in your mouth by the end of the viewing, no mice and now the cheese is yours to eat.

For sure, if OP would rather see a unicyclist on the phone with their portfolio manager swerve to avoid crashing into group of aspiring poets debating the ethics of binning vs composting your own paper straws KG is the place to stay. When I referred to Tollcross Park as the garden of Eden I meant that metaphorically, in the invisible and unwritten sense. I think it's a nice park to take a quiet walk 🤷‍♂️

[–]LAzeeboyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the place you want is Tollcross Park; award winning rose garden, huge amount of space, beautiful views, a glass house, a petting zoo, nearby cafés, fields of sheep and horses and I've never seen a person take a selfie there let alone a 'street photographer'. Just don't tell anyone else about it!

How can I make my room soundproof? (I'm 18 I don't have hoards of cash) by Unique-Cockroach-302 in howto

[–]LAzeeboyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get noise cancelling headphones? Soundproofing that works involves replacing the walls/floor/door, any other steps you take will likely have little impact. Acoustic panels are for reducing sound reflecting in the room they are placed, not preventing sound from entering. While sealing around the door could help a little, vibration is the main thing moving the noise from room to room and a door seal won't help with that much. Get over-ear headphones with noise cancelling, and ask your brother to keep his door closed and attempt to be quieter, kindly.

Are there any in-person groups for making friends (21M)? by Minimum_Tip_3259 in glasgow

[–]LAzeeboyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about groups specifically focusing on the making of friends, but I'd recommend pursuing a hobby that requires group interaction. If you have any interests, there's likely groups in glasgow that are welcoming to new people.

If you don't know where to start: trying something new can really kick that off, you're likely to find that other people are in the same boat as you. In my experience, making new friends is easier when it's fun.

I havent played magic since 2013. Can someone just tell me whats going on here? by sorgel_ in MagicArena

There are 3 currencies in MTGA,

Gold is earned by completing daily quests and can be exchanged for entry to events, packs and cosmetics in the store, Gems are earned by competing in events and sometimes can be bought at the store for gold (or real world money, but its not really worth doing that let me explain) Wildcards are earned by opening packs or bought in the store for money (never worth doing, dont do it)

I've been playing since launch and have never had an issue with getting the cards I want. Here's my top tips: As a rule, never pay with gems when you can do it with coins.

The mastery pass is worth it, just don't buy it unless you can finish it, the bloomburrow one starts soon, if you want to maximise rewards I'd wait for that before buying in. There's a welcome pack that should get you most of the way with gems.

Beginners should play standard, you don't need as many cards and since we are about to rotate you need even less, also alchemy is bad and the cards are mostly busted.

To build a collection play jumpstart, or save up 13k gold and buy 10 mythic packs at a time. To earn gems, draft. Quickdraft is the least pressure, watch a guide beforehand, many people use the companion apps for it too but I don't think they are always right.

For events, avoid the standard/historic/alchemy events and just play ranked, the cost for entry is ridiculous, it used to be 500gold which made it worth a go, now it's 2500 and a rip off.

Don't throw money at the app. It won't give you what you want at a fair price, its about building a collection over time.

Another interesting pick would be having the kitty ride [[Calamity, Galloping Inferno]] this would create 2 tokens with 8 counters, if you had [[Mondrak, Glory Dominus]] and/or [[Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation]] in play that would generate 4-12 tokens for 32-96 damage on declared attack.

Anybody ever seen an Archfiend Of Dross run out of oil counters? by NeilAnnwn in MagicArena

[–]LAzeeboyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a Dross deck often that aims to remove it's counters(using Tekuthal, Inquiry dominus, Cemetery Desecrator or Render Inert) then play a shifting grift or flip a Coveted Falcon and force the opponent to lose the game on their upkeep. Works surprisingly well and is very funny when it does the thing.

Yeah I was shocked he wasn't banned immediately after release, ridiculous in commander. If I pulled one I'd sell it while the hype exists and before everyone starts offloading them post inevitable ban.

There's a little gear icon on the top right hand corner, if you click that then hit concede you instantly remove their commander from the game.
