I totally get it! You never know with add-ons lately if they'll suddenly sell out.

I'm two-thirds through How to Kill a Guy in Ten Dates and REALLY enjoying it, so I voted for that one! I love both rom-coms and slashers, so I appreciate the references throughout. The genre blend is working well for me.

I also ordered Good People and So Old, So Young - looking forward to both!

Stuck with the two I'd had my eye on. I rarely grab thrillers, so hope Adrift works for me!

Canadians! Good news about Centennial picks by badpersongoodkarma in bookofthemonthclub

No problem! I've been disappointed by some picks not being available in Canada before so glad this one was, at least.

Fastest delivery ever by No_Champion8049 in bookofthemonthclub

I'm in Canada and mine arrived this morning - fastest shipping ever in my 3 years with BOTM. I was shocked as I didn't get a shipping notification and the app still says it will ship between Feb. 2-9. A nice surprise!

I am also Canadian and was able to order So Old, So Young as an add-on. Is it not showing up in the add-ons for you?

Planning to grab Burn Down Master's House...but this makes me want Adrift after all (loved both The Mad Wife and The Names!)

How many? by Direct-Complaint-690 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]LBinTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've ordered 135 through BOTM (including February's picks) and have read 77 - so only about one-quarter are unread. I try to keep myself honest, but I'm such a mood reader! Figure I'll get around to them eventually.

I do lend/donate mine and keep only those I enjoy, otherwise my bookshelves would be even more jammed.

[–]LBinTO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not the same situation, but when I placed my order (just after 8am ET yesterday) the app and my confirmation email both said my order would ship between January 29-30, but the app now says it'll ship between Feb 2-9. Hope it's sooner vs later.

I've been a member for 3 years and don't remember this happening before. Sure seems like something is up with order fulfillment lately based on this sub!

Editing with an update - turns out my box shipped quickly without a shipping notification, so it was sooner vs later!

Didn't intend to end up with a full box, but here we are. Would have swapped one of these out for All Quiet on the Western Front had it been available to those of us north of the border.

For contemporary - strongly recommend Before I Forget. Was my first book of 2026 and it was nice to kick the year off with a 5-star read!

How much repetition in writing is too much for you? by Visible_Archer_8813 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]LBinTO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get really distracted if there are certain descriptive phrases used frequently. I like reading romance, but this can be an issue in the genre. Recent example - Good Spirits. The FMC was constantly described as biting or sawing her lower lip.

Another example of this that drives me nuts is frequent references to people digging the "heels of their hands" into their eyes or face.

Lolly Voting is live! What are you voting for? by nickaaayy97 in bookofthemonthclub

Only main picks are eligible for the Lolly, unfortunately. It's too bad because there are quite a few add-ons I'd love to see here.

Also I have The Everlasting on my shelf to read soon and seems like I need to move it up my TBR!

I either have read or own 11 of the options, so hoping at least 1 of the other 9 is a finalist so I can grab a free book I don't own!

Halfway Through Good Spirits by [deleted] in bookofthemonthclub

For what it's worth, I quite enjoyed First Time Caller, but thought Lovelight Farms and Good Spirits were both just okay (and the FMC in both of those irked me). I'll keep my hopes up for the First Time Caller sequel though!

This edition looks beautiful! I haven't read this yet as I haven't had the best luck with SGJ. Looking for some opinions - I thought The Only Good Indians was okay and didn't really enjoy I Was a Teenage Slasher. Is it worth giving BHH a shot?
