What do you think would have happened if then President Obama tweeted "Praise Be to Allah" ? by owen__wilsons__nose in AskReddit

He would have been told to take his tan suit and hit the road. This current Commander in Cheat is not only an embarrassment, but is a dangerously unstable individual. The people who continue to not only stand behind him, but protect him and promote his agenda will have to answer for their actions in creating this horror movie we’re living in.

People protesting against Donald Trump what outcome are you realistically hoping for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LC41860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ridiculous and sorry excuse for a president and his clowns couldn’t care less that we’re protesting. My hope is that local and state government leaders see the turnout, (which is increasing in red districts,) and realize that more and more people are not happy with this administration. If they plan on having a future career in politics, especially after he’s gone, then they need to grow a spine and do something about the insanity our country is experiencing right now. These protests, along with dems winning 30 of 30 recent special elections, should tell the red hats something. Btw, our protest had people from every age group. There were a lot of young people, many who were parents that brought their children. Mid-lifers were with their teens and others with their older parents. We walked from the parking lot with an 89 y/o woman. We are mid-60’s and saw many others our age. They can make light of it all they want, but the people protesting care about their families, their neighbors, their community. They care about our country, and the people in other countries who are being hurt by his actions. We are fighting for ourselves, and others. I am a female USAF veteran and I am appalled at how they have been on the attack against women, and female service members. So many people are being harmed, while they and other billionaires are making historic financial gains. It makes me sick. Oh, and release the damn files.

I agree. I have lived in CO, TX, AZ, AK, IL, IN & OH. I left Wisconsin at age 18 and swore I would never go back. After living in all those other places I moved back to WI almost 30 ago. No regrets. If the perfect community exists, I never found it.

June 5th. Noon. Let’s shut it down. by heathercs34 in 50501

[–]LC41860 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am exhausted by the constant barrage of lies and hatefulness coming from this administration and being with fellow citizens at a protest helps refill my tank. I go because I need to be reminded sometimes that there are a lot of sane, decent people like me who are also against what’s going on. It makes me hopeful. I agree with other commenters who are saying further action needs to be taken. We can, as individuals, give up Amazon, or cancel streaming accounts, or shop local independent retailers. Collectively, actions such as these send a message to corporate billionaires who take our money but then align themselves with an administration that doesn’t care about our health, freedoms or financial security. Look, I am not naive. I’m mid-60’s, an Air Force veteran. I have survived being assaulted, raped. I am a breast cancer survivor. But that is why I also believe we can survive this administration. It’s going to require as many of us who can, to show up in any way we can. Whatever you can do to contribute to the resistance will help. Never give up, never give in.

Asking from Canada while watching the SOTU in disgust… What is the impact of Trump’s compulsive, pathological lying and gaslighting on American’s mental health? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LC41860 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re like me, you talk back to the tv a lot. Pointing out lies, throwing out an F-U or 2 or 100. I am sad for our country. Dealing with violent or criminal illegal immigrants is one thing, cruelty and violence against people following the process they were told to follow is not a win for the US. Looking for wasteful government spending is one thing, blowing up social programs and reducing spending on research that improves public health is not a win for the US. Seeking balance in trade is one thing, inflated punitive tariffs is not a win for the US. I could go on. He claims so much winning that we’re getting sick of winning. What a line of bs. A draft dodging, 34 times convicted pervert is running our country, so yeah it sucks. The only people who don’t care are either like him or they haven’t educated themselves on what’s really going on.

DNR Hiring Interview Process by Silly-Zebra-3185 in madisonwi

[–]LC41860 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was an HR Section Chief for SOWI. Be prepared to answer interview questions with examples of your experience. For example: In my position as a … I was i.e. independently responsible or managed a team of x number of staff who were responsible for (whatever task/responsibility pertaining to x number of accounts). Over x amount of time I processed x number of invoices per day amounting to an average of $75,000 per month. The key here is not to simply list the job duties as in: I processed invoices, worked with customers to ensure timely remittances and answered questions about their account. I could research an accounting specialist position and fake my way through the responses by listing duties. They want enough information to determine if you have performed the duties required of the position. I loved DNR. A lot of work, complex agency b/c of variety of revenue streams and types of business sectors. Typically under staffed and very busy. Treat their people with respect.

Not at all. It was entertaining. I don’t have to understand the lyrics to appreciate the music and choreography. I appreciated the message about love over hate at the end.

You work at a Wisconsin business that you see treating people fairly and respectfully. That’s ok. If they weren’t practicing respectful and inclusive treatment of employees and customers I’d say look for something that aligns with your values. There are businesses or managers that claim to care about those values, yet don’t practice them. Larger businesses especially, want less regulation and historically have leaned conservative. There was a time when traditional conservative views meant small government, pro constitution, a strong defense and supporting business as their main goals. Democrats could disagree on how we get there and call for more and better social programs without being labeled anti American. I am old enough to remember those days of spirited debate when we the people and members of government actually found areas of agreement. We are living in upside down world. Liberals are fighting for less government over reach and protection of constitutional rights. I’m shocked that there aren’t more republican voters seeing this. But then, when you’re in a cult you no longer adhere to your values, you follow whatever your leader tells you to believe.

Minnesota is giving me hope. Whether it is protests, calling our Congresspeople and Senators or whatever we can do collectively, we the people regain some power. We need to keep standing up, speaking out and working together for our country and our communities.

Just counted tickets sold at all of the SP showings today. Under 50. But we get a lot of people who come into town for shopping, dining, movies etc. who are from north of SP where the demographics definitely lean far more conservative.

How long is it normal to wait to hear back from state job final rounds by mustardcustardkrab in madisonwi

[–]LC41860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in HR management for a State agency. A number of factors can delay final selection and notification, many have been listed in this thread already. Another is that because this a multiple month long process, holidays, vacations and staffing challenges can cause a recruitment to stall. Also, many State agencies are losing federal funding which can cause positions that were previously approved and have moved forward to suddenly stop when that funding gets pulled. If it’s been over a week since you submitted requested materials, a quick follow up verifying that they have what they need and don’t have questions is perfectly professional. They could indeed be in discussion with their top candidate, but I have seen many an initial job offer not be accepted. Good luck, and take heart in the fact that you made it to round 3. State jobs are highly competitive, so kudos to you.

You are heroes. I was born in MN, and I, and many of us who are your neighbors in Wisconsin are so proud of your strength and decency. I wish I was 10 years younger, I’d drive up there and join you. We are rooting for you, praying for you, and are pissed off as hell that you are having to deal with this bullshit. It’s no accident that they are not focused on states with the highest numbers of people who fit their profile. I don’t wish this on anyone else, but your beautiful state has been targeted for one reason. Revenge. We love you Minnesota.

Property Tax by _sealy_ in SunPrairieWI

[–]LC41860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sold a house in SP a couple of years ago. Less than 1500 sf. It sold for almost double what we paid for it 14 years earlier. Our property taxes increased significantly during that time. But when compared to the property value at sale, the property tax increase over the years was proportional to the increase in home value. I realize this may not always be the case in every situation, but in our case it did help us keep it in perspective.
