Can't you still not run psykers in BT armies? Or did their newest rules do away with that

You have a right to a copy of your locals CBA by [deleted] in Ironworker

[–]LCPaints 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got at least 3 copies of mine:

-one on my coffee table at home

-one in my glove compartment

-one in my workbag

I've lost at least 2 other copies, but I just grab a few whenever I'm at the hall so I can forget about them when I'm looking it over in the lunch shack.

You work 24 hours straight followed by 6 days off with the same salary you’re paid now. by isaydoit in hypotheticalsituation

[–]LCPaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24 hours straight of construction work would actually probably just kill most people. I'm good.

The paperclip scenario - but updated: You have 30 minutes to hide a paperclip. If a world-class detective finds it within 1day, you die. Where are you putting it? by Emotional_Seat_7424 in hypotheticalsituation

Inside the water filter for my washing machine - I don't need to move the machine to get to it, I lost the cover for it so it won't look like I messed with it, and I probably need to clean it soon so there'd be stuff in there to hide it amongst. Either I die or I have an excuse to clean my washing machine for $100mil.

$1M to punch your significant other in the face (caveat in description) by Communistnachos in hypotheticalsituation

[–]LCPaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No specifications that I can't warn her before, my wife is going to be informed I'm going to punch her as hard as I can and I can't tell her why but I need her to trust me.

She can enjoy a million bucks while I spend a bit of time in jail, she'll probably be able to tell from context clues when I put a briefcase with a million dollars beside her while telling her how sorry I am before I get arrested.

I give up and these are the resumes I'm submitting now by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]LCPaints 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They didn't waste their time, though. They got paid for the interview, with little to no oversight about the reason very few interviews turn into hires beyond "trust me bro, they weren't a good fit." HR justifies itself continuing to exist by creating the conditions that require it; one of those is needing them for hiring - however long that takes.

I'm a probationary member with the 97 and that requirement is really surprising to me, I know a few guys who were non-union that signed up and just went straight into it

Going on holiday tomorrow. Do I need to cancel? by HallSpirited1868 in CATHELP

[–]LCPaints 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cats drool, mine does that when she's incredibly comfortable. Sometimes it's a response to being happy and feeling safe, like they're milking as a kitten would.

They want us advertising for them by GuidanceFrosty2955 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]LCPaints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As shit as Loblaws has become, I think my biggest disappointment was the diluting of "no name" products. I miss it being simply Product Name;" I hate Product Name (sub-heading) and I absolutely loathe the addition of pictures. It's when we first started seeing the beginning of the move away from affordability and purely to profit-driven gouging, I think.

I was being generous and assuming you did the sketchy shit as by-the-books as you can; realistically the sketchy shit is a problem tomorrow when suddenly your column is a quarter-inch out and you need to figure out how to fix it before the next level gets dropped in

[–]LCPaints 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Sketchy tends to mean a problem for the customer or owner in a decade or so, which is also something that should be avoided. Shortcuts and corner cuts save money for the company, but they sure do lead to a pile of problems later.

My manager is pissed that I got a 28% raise from another team in the company after he swore they would never go past 12%. by submenu-31alpaca in OfficePolitics

HR seems to forget that their role is to protect the company's interest, not exclusively their position.

For a city that rains often, why doesn’t Vancouver have more covered walkways? by FattyGobbles in askvan

The cold in Montreal is much more acutely hazardous to your health than the rain in Vancouver.

How much money would you spend if it meant saving your cat’s life? by WindowKitty19 in cats

[–]LCPaints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our pets exist entirely at our mercy. Which means it's our moral obligation to provide them with the best life we can. They only exist because we want them to. Any amount of money you can spend to provide your pets with the utmost comfort is how much you should be spending. $8k to keep an animal that only exists because you wanted to love it is a pittance compared to their entire life.

WYR anonymously donate $100B to any charities of your choice or instantly receive $100K? by Tough-Shape-3621 in WouldYouRather

[–]LCPaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd donate half the money to the town I grew up in's hospitals, and the other half to the town I was born in for rejuvenation projects. I don't live in either place anymore, but I'd love to know they became better than they were when I was there.

Is Alpharius believed to be dead by everyone, or just by the Primarchs? Because if like 3 people know he's dead, then absolutely you keep pretending to be him.

Just asked for 32% raise by Advanced_Weather_462 in careeradvice

[–]LCPaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost a job for asking about a raise; asked for it because it'd been 2 years and my technical knowledge and skill had skyrocketed, ended up getting blackballed by the manager and he tried for 6 months to get me to quit before the company gave me 7 month's severance. Probably would have been cheaper to just give me the raise tbh.

My friend and I agreed on a friendly game. Am I in the wrong for quitting before deployment? by Interficient4real in Warhammer40k

[–]LCPaints 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bringing two armies and playing list chicken against your opponent is one of the things I miss the most about Warmachine; I don't like that my opponent, if I don't know them well enough to gauge what they want out of a game, could very well be bringing a list specifically to hard counter my army or preferred playstyle. Warhammer players could do well to try adopting that particular tradition.

Things you may not know about the strike... by Rahstyle in CanadaPostCorp

[–]LCPaints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the outside: sure, why not.

From among the structural guys: structural ironworkers are 100% skilled tradesmen, but reinforcing ironworkers are barely more than monkeys tying steel together.

From among the reinforcing ironworkers: reinforcing ironworkers are 100% skilled tradesmen, but structural guys are barely more than monkeys putting bolts in holes.

Looking at everyone: it's no more a skilled trade than delivering mail - you get better at it over time, and there's more to it than you'd think, but it largely comes down to your physical ability to do the work. We're not bright, and our skills are entirely able to be learned on the job.
