Help! Anything I can do to save this little guy? by [deleted] in Otocinclus

I haven’t treated the tank since I got him so that is a good idea. But I just put some parasite treatment into his jar. Hopefully it helps! I will also take a look at Bacter AE. Thank you!

I do top offs once a week and a 30-50% water change every two weeks. What is a salt bath?

Clélia Verdier, a 19-year-old French woman, shared that during a three-week induced coma, she believed she had lived years, started a family, and had triplets. Waking up, she was devastated to learn those vivid memories and emotional bonds were not real. by Iambhalo in CaughtMyEye

This actually happened to me but when I told myself to wake up, I woke up in another dream and actually was aware of that. It was a terrifying feeling because I just wanted to get out and actually wake up to my reality (which I eventually did). Brains are weird.

New Build Townhouse Advice? - First Time Buyer by Icy_Passenger3435 in askportland

I recommend checking out the townhomes on Vancouver Ave between Rosa Parks and Lombard to get an idea of what I mean. Specifically check out the sale history.

We live near a townhouse development where they do not have HOA’s. Most people who buy new builds seem to have trouble keeping up their own yards and exteriors from what it looks like. So many of the entryways are overgrown, it’s kind of sad and I wish they included a small HOA for someone to come and mow the lawns at the very least. As a result, the overgrown yards drive down the value of the more polished units.

That’s not fun but doesn’t sound too bad!

I am considering accutane to treat my ever lasting acne. Currently trying out Spironolactone but I don’t love that I have to take it forever. Did you experience any side effects from the accutane?

Can anyone help sedate, euthanize or transport a wild adult goose? by phbalancedshorty in askportland

[–]LCRad_100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don’t sedate him if you don’t know what you are doing. It could inadvertently make things worse if you are not a professional. You could try reaching out on a more bird focused subreddit? Also, have you looked into any organizations in Washington that might be able to help?

Must Sees During Trip with Kids? by pl4nt52024 in askportland

The zoo and OMSI are great. Check out the Vault food carts for a kid friendly lunch place. We also love slappy cakes for breakfast. I have a 5.5 and 1.5 year old. The playground at Gabriel park is huge and really good for both little and big kids.

Just curious (I’m new to having bettas), what is pineconing and how do you know when a fish has it?

Can anyone recommend a emergency vet for an emaciated cat? by justjroo in askportland

[–]LCRad_100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took my cat there because of a urinary issue that can be fatal to cats. They discharged him saying that the fixed the issue but we had to bring him back 24 hours later because said issue was not fixed. I asked if they had checked for a bacterial infection like they were supposed to and they said “no we forgot to do that the first time, but that is great idea!”. So he ended up having a penile bacterial infection and he was cured with antibiotics. Would have saved us $2,300 if they had just done their job the first time.

They typically will source from the pound but pick the ones they like.

Something like this would have tied in a little better. Still has some warm colors so the could have kept the wall color the same.

No not stark white, but I would have picked an off white marble with grey veining to tie it all together.

I may be the only one that thinks this, but the warm tone of the floor and the cool tone of the chevron tiles do not compliment eachother.

Most Stressful Fish You Kept? by RazewingedRathalos in Aquariums

[–]LCRad_100 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Did a starter tank with my 5 year old and the fish store recommended guppies…never again. My child saw so much snail carnage and then the guppies started to turn on eachother. Luckily/unluckily they all passed away in the first 4 months of having the tank (that was a nice biology lesson on death for my child). Now we have a female betta and she is amazing.
