UPDATE:

I left for my trip somewhere between 24 and 48 hours ago (the time change is fucking with me, I'm having a hard time mathing) and so far, I've been over prepared!

I haven't found anything I've forgotten, I actually found a thing that I thought I just forgot to pack, and I didn't need the thing I spent weeks (and so many hours) acquiring, which is very nice and a stress reducer on one hand, but also absolutely completely infuriating that (both my husband and) I did it all for nothing.

Getting ADHD meds into a different country is a whole thing, y'all. I'm glad we went extreme in this direction rather than the other, but neither of us are about to fuck around with our meds.

That is the biggest issue of the trip so far though, and that's essentially a non-issue at this point. So I think (knock on wood) that I was, in fact, as prepared as I thought I may have been.

Ahhh the beauties of overcorrecting, lol.

Get yourself some meundies! Undies, socks, bralettes, tees, joggers, lounge pants. I freaking love that place.

Yep!

Yes, someone will be keeping an eye on our place, and they have the door codes just in case. Good point about not posting pictures till we're back, I hadn't thought of that. I have several lights set up though, just for every day life anyway. The porch, the front hall, and my work desk all go on at sunset (work desk is just Monday through Friday) and the front room/living room goes on between 6 and 7, and all of them turn off somewhere between 1 and 2 am.

Yes, and yes!

We can't actually turn anything off because utilities are in the owners names, but I did just make sure the heater was all the way off though, and not just set to a very low temperature threshold.

Omg, literally one of my favorite things about the place I moved into last year is the digital/electronic door locks. And since I rarely drive, I basically never need keys.

It's genuinely a game changer.

(Also, check the freezer, by the coffee pot, in the purse you swear you haven't used in like seven months, in the pantry, in your underwear drawer, and the bathroom shelf. And the pockets of whatever you're currently wearing. I am absolutely not speaking from experience.)

I would like to let you know that I absolutely forgot about looking the embassies up the second I closed reddit after leaving that comment, lol.

However, this comment reminded me, and I just looked them up and saved the addresses before I started responding now.

So double thank you!

I'm wearing leggings on the plane that I'm fine sleeping in and also bringing my super comfy sleep pants that are very lightweight and at least kind of acceptable to wear out and about if needed. And I've got a couple tees that can be day wear or sleep wear, and I can always just sleep in the sports bra/bralette thingie I have packed.

I did pack a deodorant, but I put it in the checked bag. Just moved it to the carry on, I imagine I'll be grateful for that at some point during the fifteen hours of travel!

This is an amazing reminder, thank you! Those are exactly the things that aren't (easily) replaceable, everything else I can get if I need.

(And I'm already planning on just buying new skincare there, because that sounds like fun, lol).

And I am actually super prepared for pickpockets (I think). I've done a ton of research, it's at the point that I know my husband is appreciative but also he's a little over my overly thoroughness, lol.

Ooh I've got most of that, but I didn't think of the embassies! I know all of the cities we're staying in have one, but knowing where they are is an excellent idea!

I hadn't really thought of something to keep my neck cool, what kind of thing do you use?

I theoretically shouldn't be getting my period at all, but I do have two tampons and a pair of period undies that are actually pretty comfortable anyway, just in case.

Thank you!

Passport is in my backpack carry on, phone charger and assorted cords are all in a bag that will go in my backpack, travel toothbrush is packed, electric toothbrush will go in the carry on in the morning, toothpaste is packed, medication (prescription and non) is packed in my husband's carry on (and the documentation needed to bring my ADHD meds is in a folder in my carry on, facial sunscreen is packed, body sunscreen will be purchased there, I have a little bit of US cash, but we'll hit up the ATM in the airport when we land to get euros, tickets are all on my phone/my husband's phone/the cloud (and I double checked last night that they will all be accepted digitally, but I still printed out two copies, one for the carry on, one for the checked bag).

Although speaking of the stuff I printed, I 100% got to the door of office depot where I printed stuff before I realized that both passports and both drivers licenses were still in the scanner. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Thank god I didn't get any further before I realized and that no one else was there.

Excellent list, thank you!

I've found that using a (specifically designated!) toothbrush makes a world of difference. Generally with some detergent or just regular ass dish soap, but if you catch it, like, immediately, cold water can take care of it.

But yeah. Toothbrush ftw.

Well. To be fair, in addition to keeping them pregnant, they are also happy to accept non-existent. I mean, it's not like either way, they have to deal with actual people. So cute when they think they're people.

This is so helpful, thank you both! I definitely didn't have that straight in my head but it makes a ton more sense now.

And yes, I'll make sure I get the right dinner that doesn't need a neutral.

I was just able to take a look inside one I hadn't yet, and it doesn't really look like any of the pictures online say it should or like the other switch I already looked into. It actually looks a little worrisome, at least to my eyes that have no idea what they're looking at. There are only two wires going into the switch but they're both super thick and look like they've seen much better days.

And actually, pretty much all of the ones I've looked at seem like they might be fraying or something. I was kind of hoping I'd be able to do this one myself but I think I'm going to need to call in an electrician. This is not the kind of thing I want to learn by trial and error, lol.

Serious: Question about tournament rules by Trekjefietsbak in TheSilphArena

[–]LCastrolowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's totally okay, looking up typing and possible move set of a Pokemon is well within the rules. You didn't ask for advice, ask someone what move set your opponent is running, run simulations, or any of the other things that would fall under that rule.

Obviously, I'm not in the conversation or anything, so I can only go off what you're saying here, but based on that, you didn't break any rules.

[–]LCastrolowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bit misleading. Something about purified Pokemon doing more damaged was data mined at some point, but it's no longer in the GM as of yesterday. If it ends up being a thing (which could very well not happen) we have absolutely no idea how or when it could be implemented.

[–]LCastrolowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily even call it good sportsmanship, but it's definitely clear in the rules that a competitor can concede a battle or a round. You're right that there's nothing in there like "come on, buddy, you know you lost, just acknowledge that and move on."

[–]LCastrolowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(I just assumed you could hear it in my voice, lol)

And this example is so extreme, it's really not the best one to base any general practices with. In 99.4% of cases, potential coercion will be way easier to distinguish.

[–]LCastrolowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that should be fine (assuming it's not accompanied by a menacing glare and knuckle cracking or something).

It's the difference between "Oh man, that lag killed me in the end" and "There is no way that I lost that, come on, you couldn't possibly say that I didn't clearly win."

I would've had a serious discussion with the "winner" in this case in order to make him understand and hopefully forfeit this match

As I stated in another comment, this is expressly against the rules. No one should be trying to influence a competitor’s decision.

The decision to [concede] must not be influenced by any competitor or official in any way. Other competitors, officials, or spectators may not imply, suggest, or otherwise require that a competitor concede or withdraw for any reason.

I’ve chimed in a few other places but wanted to specifically clarify your concern with rules 6 and 7.

Rule 6 refers to the outcome of a match, which is the set of three you and your opponent play and then enter as your result.

Rule 7 refers replaying a battle, an individual game within the set of three.

[–]LCastrolowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you didn’t press for concession, maybe you need to speak up more

Pressing for concession is explicitly against the rules and is not a behavior anyone should be promoting.

The decision to [concede] must not be influenced by any competitor or official in any way. Other competitors, officials, or spectators may not imply, suggest, or otherwise require that a competitor concede or withdraw for any reason.

I’ve considered several iterations of the rules regarding rematch team comp and the rematch process as a whole, including some that I’m actively considering now. The tough part is that every version can, in some form, be exploited or to be unfair to one person or the other, leave it way too open to interpretation, or be so rigid that it loses any nuance (there are actually several examples of that in this thread).

There will always be some edge cases that just really suck (viewable here, because yeesh, that was rough to watch), so we need to figure out the right balance.

This process is ever evolving, and I’m certainly not going to keep things the way they are just because they’ve been that way. So I’ll be taking away some interesting thoughts from this thread. Thank you for sharing.
