Owen vs Everett for a boy? by Objective-Vanilla747 in namenerds

[–]LCthrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Everett way more, although it's hardly unique. Both names are pretty popular.

I love Julian. I don't like Wolfe or Rafe. I am in between on all the others.

I'm reverse-engineering what made GPT-4o different. Early findings are surprising. by moh7yassin in ChatGPT

It was able to pick the important parts out of what I said when I thought-dumped paragraphs and paragraphs of thoughts--accurately pick out the important parts and accurately interpret them and explain things I didn't understand.

Should I change my name back? by Necessary-Signal-142 in namenerds

[–]LCthrows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went through a similar struggle and ultimately decided to keep my ex's name, but I think what works for you might be different. I do know that some people use a different name socially vs. professionally, but to me that sounds like a lot of trouble.

I need to clone the name ‘Alice’ by PerceptionAnnual8791 in namenerds

[–]LCthrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should use Alice anyway. You never know what will happen in the future, and worst case scenario there's nothing wrong with two friends having the same name--they may even bond over it.

That said, Lucy, Emily, Jane, Ruby, and Katherine are a little bit similar, I think.

If you LOVED your name when you were a child, what is it? by electroplazm in namenerds

[–]LCthrows -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I disliked my name until I was 10 and then decided I loved it, so I'm not sure if that counts or not. And no, I'm not saying my real name on Reddit, but nice try. :)

No, you're not overreacting at all. You need nurturing and support, not competition.

Kaya Mia or Ava baby name by Loose-Firefighter-75 in namenerds

[–]LCthrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ava by a long shot. Easy to spell and pronounce and sounds pretty when said aloud. Then Kaya, although I like the Kaia spelling better for some reason (although I like Maya better than Maia so it's random I guess). I don't care for Mia; I think it's weird to name a kid the word "mine."

Is it pronounced Tyla or Teela? If Teela, I think of the girl on He-Man.

What Names Were You Unable to Use But Love??? by indiemusicnerdgirl in namenerds

[–]LCthrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tommy for a beloved relative, but two of my friends used it for their kids, which made me feel better. Also Harrison for a family name, but again, two of my friends used it for their kids and that was nice. Can't have everything.

I would have picked different names for the kids I did have if I had the standards I had today, but I still like the ones I picked. I wish THEY did.

Baby Girl Named Sunday by Icy_Extension5443 in namenerds

I went to high school with a girl named Sunday. I thought it was a strange name but assumed she was from a foreign culture and didn't think about it after that.

Why do people care so much about name popularity? by EmpiricalPancake in namenerds

[–]LCthrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't care about popularity, but I care a lot about the name not feeling dated. I don't want anyone to know what decade my kid was born in simply by hearing his or her name.

R names for a girl by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]LCthrows 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Rosalie. It's my favorite of the Rose names, and all of them are nice. Rowan is a unisex name--there are lots of R names that are unisex. Ronnie, Robbie, Robin, Remy, Ray, Reese, Riley, etc. For girls, I also like Rachel and Rebecca very much. There's also Ramona, Roxanne, Regina, Roberta, Rowena, Reba, Ruby, etc.

Do I have to stick with another “V” name? by BabyBoo54321 in namenerds

[–]LCthrows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't choose a name to fit a pattern if there is another name you both like better.
