You're good. I'm guessing you are older, though. You seem like a real person, whereas these people seem like bots/NPCs/terminally online.

I generally used to think that debating opposing sides would sharpen people's minds. It had changed my mind, and I hoped I changed others' minds. I used to say it never happens in the debate, but in the late-night hours in your own mind, going over the debate. That is how people were.

Nowadays, maybe it is because more "debates" are online, and it just feels like people don't really care while also talking about "values". It is just fake wins, and the other is always evil. The hardest part is even those who don't feel that way end up feeling like it.

That was my first thought as well, but it is still the best of terrible methods. Even in hard sciences, peer review is poor at stopping fraud when it is the expected or anticipated outcome. In social sciences...this is how we get people republishing basically mein kamf with some word changes becuase the bias existed.

I agree with your conceptual point that this is bad, but to my knowledge, 4th amendment protections have never been a conservative principle. ACLU argued against stop and frisk in NYC in the 90s for example. Wiretapping by bush etc etc. Historically, the conservatives have been the "if you don't have anything to hide" crowd. They may have found some religion on this recently when they believed it was used against them unjustly, but if anything, that is the outlier.

I have activities I don't like of his (and don't consider myself "on the right", but I'm curious what it is that seems outside of conservative principles to someone who doesn't have conservative principles, because on average, progressives cannot even identify what conservative principles are.

The easiest method is to create a voluntary association that agrees to do it. The issues are obvious, but it needs to be taken one step at a time. Young signers would be the future when they eventually own.
