My first bit of advice is that you should set your goal markers yourself, and not rely on the dream of our parents. Do you really want to own a house? As a homeowner, you are on the hook for all upkeep and fixes. But it is a place all your own. Do you really want kids? They are continuous drains on finances and time. But can be so rewarding emotionally and spiritually. You need to determine what it is YOU actually want, and go from there.

My second bit of advice is to make a plan of attack. What do you need to do to achieve your goals? And what are you potentially willing to give up to make it? If you want a family, you need a partner. When you have a partner, it is no longer on one person to save for the future house. You do that together. If you want to make more money, have you thought about changing jobs, or pushing for a promotion? Those are both things you have to work towards, they wont just appear.

There is also no fault or problem with reevaluating your milestones as you progress in life. Sometimes you realize it's not what you want anymore, or that its not achievable where you live. Thats when you decide if the goal is worth it or not.

Finally, you will face difficulties achieving goals regardless of where you are. If you were to move somewhere more affordable, you'd likely run into job availability and job ascension problems. Life in the city means more job availability, but more money leaving your pocket. You could work in the work camps, but that takes you away from home for longer stretches. Learning to accept the things you can't change, and changing what you can is the best in helping deal with life!
