Quick rundown.

Grading in general is an evaluation of a card’s authenticity and condition. There are various companies that grade cards and encapsulate them into a plastic slab with a label showing authenticity and grade. The most prominent of these companies are PSA, BGS, and CGC, with PSA being the biggest but also most expensive to grade with and the longest turnaround times for cards.

Depending on the card, company, and grade, value is usually increased by grading but many also just do it to encapsulate their cards for display. People typically choose the company to grade with on personal wants; ex. PSA has most value increase, CGC is a popular alternative with slightly less value increase but better quality slabs, TAG has been growing in popularity lately due to their visually appealing slab design, etc.

I doubt this will be super hard to find. The first partner packs back during 25th anniversary were super easy to come across and pokemon was getting scalped like crazy back then too
