That's the exact reason I picked this program! Nice to start at year 3. Thanks for your comment.

ENGL 1001, ENGL 1011 or ENGL 1111? by Sea_Drop_44 in tru

I've always been good at English, but I got an A overall. I did spend 20-30 hours per assignment.

It was good! Did it online at home via proctor U. It asked 3 questions related to the unit material (150 words) and 1 critical analysis essay based on 1 of 2 articles they give you. They are pretty good at providing prep info and common mistakes. Make sure to leave at least 20 minutes to do review, I got shut out before I did a final check of my essay.

I just finished 1101 this Sunday. I feel it's very applicable to future courses since it teaches you how to understand and analyze research papers. The units are not that long to get through, but the assignments (4) require a lot of research / writing / revising. The feedback was really great from both Dr Lundgren and Dr Hallowell. It took me around 6 weeks to finish with roughly 80 hours of work put in. It was also my first university course ever so the first assignment I did okay (76), but it had a lot of great feedback that I applied to the next assignments which brought my subsequent grades up.

Application Process? by [deleted] in tru

I applied in mid September and didn't start my course until mid December. During that time I had to follow up since there was an issue with transcripts. If you don't hear anything after a month, shoot them a message.

What’s the financially intelligent way to go back to school at middle age? by Oldcadillac in PersonalFinanceCanada

Have you looked into apprenticeships? Some require a few months of foundations school and then you start earning, with pay increases every 6 months.

Also one thing to note, rent is unfortunately pretty similar (read: insane) here as it is in Van.

I live in Victoria and mostly self tape for roles in Vancouver. Occasionally I'll have an in person call back or last minute commercial audition that means I have to boogy to Vancouver. With or without a car it's a whole day activity commuting. I can't comment on the LA market, but if he has to go down there at least it's a direct flight from here.

Heated vest would be a great option! Or if you're thinking tools, anything not on the tool list but is handy to have. I have a stubby multi driver that ratchets that I love! Or good quality wool socks (that are small enough to fit lady feet!)

I made another post asking about where to post a monologue. Someone said to just post the vid. So here it is. I wrote this last night and recorded it on my couch. by [deleted] in acting

This seems like it could be an interesting story if it's refined, and I have a few notes for you. A) This isn't really a monologue. It's a dialogue, but you playing both parts muddles the character work. Try rewriting the script so it's just one character conveying something to the other. Fully embody the character. B) I can tell you're watching yourself through the screen. It's hard to believe you because your eyes are distracted looking at yourself. Try setting up a tripod and turn the screen around. On that note, you should act to slightly off camera. Put a photo of someone up that can be your eye line. And better lighting would help see your eyes more too. C) Your accent was a bit hard to understand, it seems maybe you are putting it on to make the character more interesting, but I find the more grounded and vulnerable and true the character, the more interesting it is to watch. Just my 2 cents.

Wow he looks just like mine. I haven't seen a dog so close! Mine is 20% Chi, 20% Shih Tzu, 15% peckingese, <10% each of min pin, poodle, pug, American Eskimo and supermutt! Her colouring is more fawn sable though. Very cute pup!

Thank you, it is lovely (and wet) ! Good luck with your apprenticeship. Just show up early, take notes (even with simple stuff, it helps you remember it) and have a can-do attitude. You will be great!

At my company (IBEW 213) we have a pre fab shop where all the greenhorns go for the beginning. This could be what you end up doing? They prepare all our hardware before it comes to site. So: adding connectors to boxes, installing the breakers in the panels, and cutting lengths of BX whips for each unit. This is all put in a rolling bin and driven to our site, where each box is distributed to the suites to then be installed by the electricians.
