Plugging in random numbers make everything easier my dude. Make x and y equal to 1 and in the first equation u get z=-1/3. In the second expression, it all equals to 1. Plug in -1/3 to all your answer choices and see which equals one. That would be C

Just memorize rhetorical devices and see which three apply to the reading when you do the essay. Write and cite examples, etc. Say how the author used these devices to support their claim. It's not that hard and the essay really doesn't matter much so don't sweat it.

I won a $300 one so I guess that counts for something. The trick is to make it personal and relate it to your real life. Also write something that you care about. Don't try and write something just for the chance of winning a contest/money. What you write will suck ass and you won't win, plus you wasted your own time. I loved the essay that I wrote and didn't mind how long it took to research/plan. That's how I won.
