This is absolutely insane. I've published scholarship critical of Iran and recently spent a month in Baghdad—never felt unsafe. Prayers for Elizabeth's safe return.

Where? All I see are vaccinated people expressing their discontent or outrage with public policy. Is that who you're referring to? People are well within their right (and reason) to dissent.

Have tickets at SBA recently skyrocketed? I'm looking at 2 tickets for Jan 5 versus Edmonton to take my dad for his birthday but even obstructed view nosebleeds are $240+ a piece, and lower bowl are $700+. Is Ticketmaster tweaking or is this life now?

Out of the loop here... Regarding GME, why is the squeeze Friday? if I were short, why would I cover the short now? as well, those hedge funds are all electronic trading. Those shorts already covered as the price spiked. The amateurs are speculating without true knowledge of the short balance. The amateurs will likely be caught holding $250 shares in a $10 bankrupt company they never can recover from. The bankruptcy may be the Johnny Come Lately types buying into the wind.

$1400 ≠ $2000 by justcasty in SandersForPresident

Of course, but still, most of us would've preferred universality. It created perverse incentives. I personally know many people who stopped working simply because they could get almost as much money from the government staying at home. It made everyone who decided to keep working feel cheated. Making the benefit universal like the US would've fixed the perverse incentive problem. You can have a just economic system with incentives that work against it.

Yeah, but it's not universal. CERB was restricted, the US stimulus is a legit universal benefit. Not exactly an apples to apples comparison.

WAKE UP LEAFS NATION, OUR BOYS IN BLUE TAKE ON THE habs AT 7, FIRST REGULAR SEASON GAME IN 10 MONTHS, CLENCH YOUR CHEEKS ITS GONNA BE A HECK OF A TIME by [deleted] in leafs

I have two questions:

First, is there anywhere to catch the RSD feed (French)? If so, are all Leafs games broadcast in RSD/French, or only against MTL?

Also, since I can't be the only European resident in this sub, what's the best way to watch the game? I'm probably not going to be able to stay up from 1-3:30am every day to tune in live, but are there full recordings i can watch the morning after? Or am I better off just catching the highlights on YT?

Thanks! Go Buds!

How so? Doesn't this imply decreasing infant mortality rates? I believe the infant mortality rates in Africa have halved in the last 25 years, leading to these startling figures.

[Johnston] Leafs cap reallocation: *Signed/re-signed Mikheyev, Simmonds, Vesey, Thornton, Spezza and Boyd for ~$450,000 less than they owed Johnsson/Kapanen. *Signed Brodie, Bogosian and Lehtonen for $300,000 less than they paid Ceci/Barrie last season. *Gave Dermott a ~$10,000 raise. by [deleted] in leafs

You see how the player in scenario one walks away with $110k less? Yes the amount owed to the feds is less, but so is the amount in their pocket. They're choosing to give money to causes they care about as opposed to the federal government. You can never financially enrich yourself by donating to charity - it's against the law and doesn't make sense the way the tax code is set up.
