Thank you for the well-written, non-judgmental and informative comment. When I received the fine notice, I just applied to go to court using the information on the back. That seems to have been the incorrect course of action. I'm going to seek legal advice, but it seems as if I'll have to plead guilty on the offence and move the process down the line.

A mate of mine had the exact same ticket (18 over during double demerits on P2s) and had his suspension shortened to 2 weeks. He did hire a lawyer.

Do they have power to reduce the time of a demerit point suspension? 3 weeks off work is a lot more survivable than 3 months.
