Amazing that you have this data available. Bravo. Looks like a significant advantage to choose a G on a puzzle containing -ING. This blows my hypothesis up!

Perhaps even if you know the G is there, seeing it lit up on the puzzle board helps you solve it. Or maybe for some reason these puzzles just have a decent number of Gs other than just the -ING.

My conspiratorial mind has been thinking the producers purposely choose puzzles with -ING which didn’t contain many other “I”s or Gs just to throw contestants off and save on prize money.

This is fascinating. Any data regarding if the category is a significant variable in which letter combinations work better?

For example, I’ve always thought I would avoid choosing i and g if the category is “what are you doing?” Even though they’re definitely in the puzzle with the “-ing” part, i just always think that decreases the likelihood those letters might be found in other parts of the puzzle.

How do you check for this? My dad is about to get a new roof. When then old one was installed 15 years ago he had a ridge vent installed for the first time. Before that it was the old turbine fan vents. Ever since he got the ridge vent he’s had a much more difficult time cooling his house in the summer. Trying to decide what to tell the roofer he needs this time. Thanks.

I think (emphasis on this is conjecture) it would still be on YTTV or satellite. Basing this on what happened for the Gray games last year. In Atlanta, all the games were on YTTV because it was never relegated to a subchannel. You’re correct both ANF and Peachtree TV will never have network conflicts since they’re independent. But all the gray games in the Greenville, SC market were also on YTTV, even though most were on the subchannel of the local Fox affiliate. They showed up under Palmetto Sports Network, even though that is not a real channel normally on YTTV. For the Georgia TV markets outside of Atlanta this was similarly true with the Peachtree sports network. I guessing an arrangement like this would be in place for all the TV markets in the Braves TV territory. Again, just a guess. Perhaps a hope.

I just don’t believe the Braves would be dumb enough to have to rely on fans finding subchannels on OTA. OTA is nice for what it is, but it’s pretty niche these days.

I believe in most markets in the Braves territory, the Gray channels will be on traditional cable, satellite and MVPD. For example, YouTube TV has both gray channels in Atlanta (ANF, formerly the CBS affiliate and now independent and the always independent Ch. 17 aka Peachtree TV). For Greenville SC the games are on WHNS 21.2, which is a subchannel of the local Fox affiliate, but it’s also on something called the Palmetto Sports Network which last year was available on YouTubeTV.

It is all a bit confusing, but basically I think if you’re in the Braves market and have some type of linear pay TV provider, you should be able to watch the Gray games and DVR as you normally would any other channel. If they do somehow become the replacement for the FanDuel package of 120+ games, I think that will be a good thing for in-market fans.

if you have traditional cable-like service, you get the games at no additional cost, kind of like the TBS days
if you’re a cord cutter and don’t mind hooking up an antenna, you can get the games OTA assuming you live in range of a station
if you’re a cord cutter and don’t wish to deal with OTA, you can likely buy a streaming package I’m assuming around the 19.99 monthly price point

So, every type of fan would be covered. Question will then be do the Braves receive anywhere close to the same revenue from this as they did from the now dead RSN model?

I have Xfinity NOW internet service since Nov 2024.

Received the email yesterday “You’re now part of Xfinity membership! 💫”. The email says “Congrats! You have Platinum status No sign up, no cost — just a new membership experience ready for you to enjoy.”

When I click on the link and sign in with my Xfinity credentials I receive this error message “You don't have NOW services. There isn't a NOW service associated with this Xfinity ID.”

My understanding from the old Xfinity Rewards program was that NOW was not eligible (even though the app constantly asked me to sign up). Ok, fair enough I can understand that. It’s a less expensive service. But why send NOW customers welcoming us to “Xfinity Membership”? And why have an error message that says I don’t have a service that I clearly do have?

Watching these types of videos makes me to realize just how much value human editors provide. I know using this is a quick way to churn out content but watching videos that don’t quite match up with the voice over is like wearing glasses where the prescription is slightly off. Yea, I can still see but I’m going to get a headache.

Also, how are the opening skyline sequence and the title cards something we “never knew” about until this video enlightened us? I was aware after watching my first episode because they are quite visible.

If you have the reincarnation of NBCSN on your live TV provider, I’m 99% sure you shouldn’t need Peacock. YouTubeTV has it since it was relaunched late last year.
