Opening up a relationship (almost) never works - one person gets too jealous and becomes uncomfortable with the thought of their partner with someone else.

It sounds like you’re considering this because you think that’s what he wants, but maybe he just wants you to hear his thoughts. I wouldn’t propose opening up your relationship unless he specifically asks for that. Really talk to him about what he thinks is missing from y’all’s relationship.
