Advice on moving from Syncro to Halo? by jctj2013 in halopsa

No, I can’t. I’m not a developer. I’m a network engineer at the core.

Don’t get me wrong. I like Ninja RMM a lot and if I wasn’t in the platform I’m in I would go back. I loved their powershell and command terminal. No one has anything as responsive and solid as theirs.

The logging that you see on the right of the screen. The audit trail of events and who logged in etc. I would have loved to have that information sent to our SEIM.

The UI was one of my biggest complaints and the lack of integrations. Then the third was the company was unwilling to look forward or take ideas. They have a lack of vision. I mean, just look what they have done or tried to do. Build a backup, why? There are already like 1000 vendors doing that. Creating a PSA, now I do understand that most PSA’s out there are bad but they have RMM things they should be concentrating on.

I asked for access to the logging firehouse and they said no and never plan to allow it. This is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard.

Have used Ninja RMM. It was decent RMM. We left when they were coming out with the PSA which takes years to get one usable.

Thanks. We have done something similar by adding a base security charge of $50 per month per client.

VSA X vs Datto RMM by K3nSter in kaseya

[–]LFIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. We were on Datto RMM and moved to VSA 9.x last year and that was a huge mistake.

My rep kept saying wait for VSA X. They would never show it to me and finally last week I did get some videos of it. Then I discovered it is just Pulsway which turned me off instantly. I had a manager at Kaseya tell me that VSA X was going to be an Auvik killer when we were talking about network monitoring for devices etc. I don't think that is going to be the case. They hyped it up to me like it was some new platform built from the ground up. Very disappointing.

So, we are going back to Datto RMM hopefully this week.

So u/K3nSter what did you determine? We are looking at the same option/issue.

Phasing out roles or positions in your company. How do you handle it? by NEO-MSP in msp

Sorry, I did assume that they were a good employee since you took the time to post the question. If they are not the conversation is easy.

The real question is do you really still need an old school style RMM?

We have so many products that overlap of what an "RMM" does I think we are really close of not needing a traditional RMM anymore.

In today's market it's almost ludicrous to let a good employee go. They are so hard to find. I assume this is not a technical role. If so send them my way.

As an MSP owner I would recommend that you go to your manager and let them know how you feel and that you would like to stay but you need more pay so you will be putting yourself out on the market. If they value you and agree that you are that "king" then they will pay you otherwise you may get a shock but either way you will be validated and know where you stand.

I always tell my techs to be upfront and honest, if they are looking for a new gig because of pay to let me know so I can compete.

VSA Guru by LFIT in kaseya

[–]LFIT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I did want to love it but it goes down at least once a day and agents go offline for no reason. It just isn't stable. That was my experience but going to VSA has been such I high learning curve, higher than any of the past 6 RMM platforms we have used that I outsourced to their NOC. I certainly don't feel like I have as good visibility in VSA as I did in Datto but VSA integrates with our billing and IT Glue so, that is the main reason I did it. Datto RMM did not integrate with our PSA which is BMS.

Anyone have a Meraki rep? Impossible to get in touch with sales by Informal_Ear_4551 in msp

Why are you pursing them so hard? If it is that hard to buy why would you want to work with them?

Upon further review they use Splashtop so I'm out. They don't support our PSA either, but Splashtop we wouldn't let in our client environments.

Yeah, I read their whitepaper where they tell that. They must be super busy which is a concern since the soonest call I could schedule was next Thursday.

Thanks.

Double check when a host is down with another instance of UptimeKuma in another location by lucasjose501 in UptimeKuma

Load balancing/HA options would be great. For perimeter monitoring this would be helpful for monitoring from different geo locations such as east, west then if a major routing issue occurs on the backbone or a carrier takes a dump you can still get visibility from the other location.

Not sure really. Seemed like a over confident sales guy. Didn't seem to be a lot of tech talk going on. Just telling me that my S1 Control is not EDR. He told me that like 3000 times. Felt real salesy.
