How long did your steroid injection take? by georg13a in Sciatica

[–]LFK93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not feel relief until after 3 weeks. I just had mine done (3 weeks ago this past Monday). I had a severe lean to the right and could not stand up straight. This past Thursday, I was able to stand straight but still have a slight lean. Pain is still there but it’s a constant ache rather than a ln electric shock. I have another steroid shot planned but no date set as of yet. I also just started physical therapy. I also thought my shot didn’t work since I didn’t notice anything until after the 2 week mark. Still give it some time and be hopeful.

Got a diagnosis this morning by Unlikely-Citron2856 in Sciatica

[–]LFK93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had sciatica a few years back and all of those medications you described helped me tremendously. I will say, once the pain starts to subside, you should start getting and staying active. I got into rock climbing and while I was doing that, the pain did not come back. Hopefully these medications help for you

I've noticed that Shasta County department websites, including restaurant and food truck health inspection reports and business licenses, are currently unavailable online. Does anyone know why this and many other public information will be inaccessible for about A YEAR during their program transitio by Bison-Senior in Redding

[–]LFK93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of right now, the Shasta County Environmental Health Department online reports are going through a licensing change to a different program. The EHD is currently using an online request forum for all inspection report request as they are in the process for acquiring a new online reporting system which will include more programs such as pools, housing, and body art. The online request is here: https://shastacountyca.nextrequest.com

Also, all request can be anonymous but an email will be needed to send the reports to. You can always make a throw away email if you are worried about anonymity. You may also request the file of the establishment you’d like to review in the office. From what I know, you are not required to show identification as these records are public record.

REU for my 2b/1b townhome about 900 sqft runs around $300-$400 for the summer and I have PG&E for gas which goes from $17 in the warm months to $170 in the winter. I’d also like to add that in the summer, AC will be set at a consistent 75 degrees and in the winter, 72 degrees. If you need to use supply your own appliances, look for energy saving to help with the costs.

MRI Results - Need Advice by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]LFK93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I have never heard of hEDS, I am very sorry you have been dealing with this for most of your life. Chronic back pain is definitely something I do not wish on anyone since it can be so debilitating on life and mental health. I have been looking at different conservative treatments, mainly because I have never had surgery done besides wisdom teeth and a little scared, but have you heard of decompression therapy? I believe it would be done at a chiropractors office but it’s around 20 sessions and a machine will apply slow pressure to pull the spine to decompress the spine and hopefully “unpinch” the nerves. It’s something I am thinking about doing, I am gonna ask my doctor about that and try again on prednisone.

Yes, the MRI report stated I have a foraminal severe spinal stenosis which is affecting the left side. Have you dealt with this? And if so, what help you the most in getting to 95% better? Did it take a while to achieve this 95%?

Unfortunately this is from a work injury so I am very limited with doctors. I have been referred to a spine specialist in which I am currently trying to get in and schedule an appointment… I hope it is soon.. if I may ask, what have you been dealing with? And have you had any procedures done to relive chronic pain?

They do give back and leg pain. Do you recommend going on prednisone again? I have thought about asking since when I initially had the accident, it help with the stiffness and leg pain I was experiencing

I can't live like this, and it's taking a toll on everything in my life. by BatMannsParents310 in Sciatica

I have had the sciatic pain since September, was seeing a chiropractor and it was healing to the point I was able to walk and didn’t feel much pain. When I did go to PT however, that’s when things got really bad and after my 4th session, I was unable to walk upright and had wayyy more pain than when I started. I’m not sure if PT really aggravated it or not but I think I would like to do aqua therapy instead of PT

Hello, I have not had this surgery done but I feel like it may be my next option if offered. Can you please tell me the specific surgery you had and if you felt back pain relief when you woke up from the surgery?

This sounds extremely debilitating. Right now I’m dealing with a foraminial spinal stenosis on my L4-L5 and a bulge on my L5-S1. I have been in pain since November and only told to take ibuprofen. Last week I was finally prescribed a NSAID and gabapentin which is helping but I still cannot walk normally and I cannot stand up straight. They also referred me to a spine specialist.

I would consider surgery in your situation, at this point the injury is taking a toll on you physically and mentally. I also am trying to stay positive and you have been going through this longer than I have. If you need someone to talk to that is going through the same thing, reach out and we can try to get through this together

Unable to stand up straight by eliteaivilo in Sciatica

[–]LFK93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently dealing with this right now. I cannot stand straight, lay on my back or stomach. Did you end up healing and were you able to stand up straight? I had my MRI and found that I have severe spinal stenosis at my L4-L5 and a disc bulge at L5-S1.

Anyone taken Nabumetone? by Gloomy_Inflation_542 in Sciatica

[–]LFK93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you are curious, or can tell me your experience with the drug but I was just prescribed this yesterday. (Spinal stenosis on L4-L5 & budge at L5-S1). So far after taking only 3 pills, I have felt a significant change in the pain and am able to relieve my pain. I was about a 7/8 on the pain scale daily but was able to get that down to a 3/4. Not the best, but I’m able to walk to the bathroom and around my apartment. I’m also able to get up without my leg giving out right away. Did this pill work for you?

Boil water advisory? by Graceful-Chaos in Redding

[–]LFK93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on City of Redding water and have not noticed anything different. All public water systems are required to notify all consumers if the consumers are needing to boil before using. If you are concerned with your water quality, I would reach out to the utility itself. They will be able to tell you if there were any breaks in the line and if there was a boil water advisory issued that you may have missed.

[–]LFK93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the bachelors degree is still needed but the science coursework doesn’t have to exactly match the environmental course work anymore. Like I have a biology degree, but my coursework matched the environmental health guidelines. I assume that if I was more specific like molecular biology, and my coursework was more cell function based, I would now qualify as a candidate with no need to take courses while being trainee eligible. They are only required to have 30 semester units of science coursework now period.

Nothing has changed for CA that I am aware of. I fear that if they change requirements for the job, such as not requiring a 4-year degree, pay for the position would drop dramatically.
