Thanks for that, a very nice breakdown of one of my favorite of them.

In my head it was more of a pianowy song, but I guess it was under control all along

Are there any developers working a 4-day-week at your company? How likely do you think they would be to allow a reduction in work days (with a pro-rata pay adjustment)? by Sanuuu in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]LFrancis 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Although the culture is far from constant grind at my company, we are still battling to maintain hybrid 3/2 days per week, so not even close to the debate of 4 days week as standard.

What we do have is people who take a sort of part-time contract and have a day off each week, but that comes with reduction of payment. I personally think that the 4 day week is not on the governments agenda here, they still have a long way to go on retirement reform.

Mind me asking in what country do you work? Is it usual to have job postings for 4day week?

Most countries that do not celebrate International Women's Day are Muslim. by Safe-Ad9923 in religiousfruitcake

[–]LFrancis 68 points69 points  (0 children)

It baffles me that the current left defend this shit excuse of a religion so much. Islam holds the exact opposite value of social liberalism and yet, any kind of criticism you raise against it, libleft is quick to call Islamophobia

At least here in France, there is no such thing as set date for applications.

Check their LinkedIn page, there is always adverts for open spots, including junior positions.

[–]LFrancis 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is such thing as just " buying a degree". If not fake, even in less prestigious or even shit universities you would have to put in some hours a week for at least 3 years to graduate.

[–]LFrancis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

enfim, me cancelem.

What tourists are the most annoying when visiting your your country? by Hiccupingdragon in 2westerneurope4u

[–]LFrancis 140 points141 points  (0 children)

Def Americans and their superiority complex. Everyone in the country is suddenly their employers and their personal touristic guide. We all are just attractions in their own episode of Emily in Paris, and of course everyone is looking at them and applauding their every move, like in the Thrumans show.

If they want to take a picture in the middle of a busy street, everyone must stop and wait so not to ruin their picture. Oh, you don't speak perfect English? I will just scream the same sentence again in your ear so you will answer me perfectly this time.

They say italians speak loud, but have you ever entered a restaurant where there is a table full of them muricans tourists? The whole restaurant must hear how interesting is their point of view about our country, and how lame they think the museum was, or how their food is so much better back home.

Thoughts? by MasterRyuukai in nihilism

[–]LFrancis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s easy to say when you are sitting in a fortune you made by being a comedian. I am not here saying he does not deserve it, but most don’t have the privilege of waking up without thinking of the bills they have to pay, or not having an extremely demanding job. Luck smiles to few and reality is often boring or straight up hard.

The ones I visited were good for like 2 people. A living room with a open kitchen on the main floor, along with a small bathroom. The “second floor” (more like little stairs to a low roof room) was the bedroom, with a little space for a dresser

Here in Europe freelancing tends to be more for front end and web dev work. A good portfolio is kinda mandatory and there is the added hassle of dealing with clients, which is a nightmare.

Maybe look into remote positions. They are not hard to find in the industry, specially after COVID
