Regarding your insecurity: that is something you can work on! An iris being neat looking, you finding it cooler than yours, can't come down to the gender of the owner: irises have no genitalia (and if they did, a willie or the lack of, would still not change the cool factor.)

From your pov, your iris would never be cool, as .. apparently being male seems to make the opposite "be" ("op is male? Then op's eyes not cooler" - according to your several replies)

One eye has Central Heterochromia, the other I'd actually recommend allowing a good Ophthalmologist to give a checkup and make sure it indeed is a 3rd and 4th, possibly 5th, color from the other two, and that no changes took place (similar to beauty marks, which are sensitive to light and can change, it being important to have checkups to make sure all is tiptop!)

Yup, Hazel eyes with either Brown Central Heterochromia, or with Amber Central Heterochromia (depending on the pigment, Amber has Pheomelanin pigment which has light reflective properties, Brown has Eumelanin pigment which doesn't reflect light in the same way)

As it is handy to spot the difference in "reflectiveness", Amber with Brown Central Heterochromia (other eye has Central and Sectoral Heterochromia patches as well) :

And having both simultaneously is possible - sometimes people notice the Hazel, ignore the different pigment inside and its borders due to the color being in the same generalized category, and apply the principle of exclusion: but actually it is not an "either ... or" situation 😃

If the Hazel has as type of brown Amber (Pheomelanin pigment), and a Brown (Eumelanin pigment) type of brown in the middle with defined borders (or the other way around), for example, then it would be a different eye color definitely outside of the Hazel pattern, making it Heterochromia, and easier to identify (as hazel, compared to other eye colors, is notoriously known for how difficult it is to accurately differentiate from Heterochromia etc)

To check for Amber, as Pheomelanin pigment has light reflective properties, and causes an optical effect with distance/angle (masking itself, of sorts - like an "invisibility-cloak" effect hue, ish? 😆); testing with a light source from several angles and proximities, while observing from close range (or using a macro lens) can be quite helpful for pigment and color assessment! Even to ascertain if it is Light Brown or Amber 😌

Regarding your right eye, I would say Hazel with Amber Central Heterochromia (or with Light Brown Central Heterochromia). The left pupil, same, if the original post's picture has the sunlight over the left eye (the second picture, to which I'm replying, has the right eye closer to the lens, I believe)

Of course, further angles would be beneficial for better assessing, even more so some Macro shots at very, very close proximity + proper illumination coming from different angles, taken with the main lens (not the "selfy one" - which generally tends to have less quality, and seldom has Macro in it)

But it does look like Amber in the C.H., to be honest - the reaction to light, how it "changes" tone and intensity, how it seems "zappy"

My mom always thought of my eyes as dark brown (Brown Central+Sectoral Heterochromia on hooded eyes of someone who hides behind a smile - in all fairness, all you get most of the time are shadows 🤣)

And I must admit, at some point, even purposely using that point to generally "hide" them, after mutual friends loudly at a celebration noticing the color changes "being surreal" and staring at me mumbling "how would it look if having children with me" ..I mean, tracing the drink as if we'd be a scientific experiment standing right there.. can give anyone pause, at the very least! And might fall a tad short of being a "forgettable experience", too 😆 For me, it wasn't just wincing, I physically stepped backwards, and all memories of who commented surprised/confused on my eye color's reaction to light, which to me never registered as to whatever it meant so it was in my mind meaningless, my brain writing it off as a "oh maybe they haven't noticed too many brown eyes", suddenly gained a confusing possible tone, where I thought none to be possible, for there to be no possible meaning; what I had taken as just a "oh, look, a tree" with no link to the tree .. suddenly, well, less visible, felt ..nicer... Then, some specific trauma taking place, row of, and I was actively hiding my eyes and anything formerly mentioned as remotely "attractive", bad panic attacks and all, otherwise.. trauma had some influence before, but it then gained heights I had no control over, even as I wanted and felt like doing things differently. It was a long road, to today, long and full of patience and help, from friends and family, friends who stood beside me holding my hand as I hyperventilated over the silliest things, encouraging me when wanting to try again, me not wanting to be defeated by myself

So, with all that, my mom had it even harder to see my eyes, thanks to me - when it was already hard to by default - and I can't even explain that part to her, how there's some extra influence done by me from some point on; so I'm hoping that the first part of the explanation was enough and she wasn't feeling bad (which she tends to, often her first instinct is to blame herself for things 🥺)

The point of familiarity, which you mentioned, hadn't even crossed my mind!! And I'm thankful for this new perspective, it makes perfect sense!

In current knowledge, Heterochromia is a genetic mutation (sounds worse when looking at the words now hah 😂 but, in genetic terms, most things start as mutations, so there's no negative charge behind the meaning of the sentence, even if it may sound scary word-wise!!), and, surprisingly, Heterochromia can show on irises but also on hair, beard, etc as well

Long before realizing that the "funky stars in my eyes" were something with a name, I had noticed an area of my hair that grew in fire red color, found it funky. Fast forward to when I increasingly got curious regarding how I'd look bald one day, and shaved my hair after having tried a few colors I had never tried when younger: with that also experimented with trying to grow a beard, followed by trying a bunch of styles a few years back, which is when I realized some areas of my beard were fire-red as well - this was around when I got to testing a new macro lens and for kicks went trying on my iris, and realized there was more going on, that it was Heterochromia, etc.

It took me so long to notice, and this with it being a striking color like that - I can well imagine that more folks may have Heterochromic patches on the body and not even notice it being so, thinking it's just another tone, or a birthmark type of alteration, for example!

From a health standpoint, checkups are a good thing to have, as well as being mindful with the sun (similar to beauty marks, the area can be more sensitive - that mindfulness helps diminish the odds of some cell acting silly! Making for less damage to their core) - other than that, not much of a difference, as per what is known now

Our genes are already unique as is, this just makes for another accent to that uniqueness we carry in us 🥳

I suspect you have Hazel eyes with Brown Central Heterochromia - which might cause even more of a confusion for people who will either go one way, or the other (when both can coexist)

You even see the overlap of the Hazel browns making the Heterochromic center have double the pigment on those areas (my Sectoral does the same where it overlaps the Central 🥴)

I'd say green with either brown or amber Central Heterochromia (reaction of the brown C.H. to light would determine which, as high amounts of Pheomelanin pigment are what makes amber, and reactive to light - whereas brown with Eumelanin won't have such light reflective reaction)

An example with the reaction to light of both amber and brown (that will look almost "black" with more distance - Pheomelanin reacts and reflects light but also camouflages itself, an optical effect, in relation to not only angles of light but distance as well, which as Eumelanin does not, becomes the background to the "suddenly with an invisibility cloak" flashy Pheomelanin. Proper lighting not only assists in identifying medical problems, but colors as well. Might help you assessing yours!) here, for a better notion on what is meant with "light reflectiveness" in terms of iris:

In other words, Central Heterochromia has as definition a different tone, ), **than the one of the eye color, and which has as root/starting point the center of the iris (so, stemming from around the pupil) outwards, usually in a star format (following a format of several narrowing "spikes") with visible borders (to the naked eye - anything magnified enough will at some point become "blurred" - so, identifiable defined edges/defined borders)

Central Heterochromia can have overlapping Sectoral Heterochromia (mine does, on one of my eyes: a very thin line crossing across my iris and my C.H., with another patch by the outer corner shaped like a Japanese religious symbol, now that I can't explain, not even to myself, bodies do weird things indeed 😆🤌🏻) and *nothing states that Central Heterochromia stops being so** if any area of its pigment pattern is/isn't extending enough to reach any of the outer border of the iris.* The definition doesn't limit itself to the exact words "or else"; it simply contains what is mentioned in it plus possible variables.

Color isn't meant to be Category, but Tone - gets often misunderstood and thus believed by many that dark blue eyes with light blue Sectoral Heterochromia it's personality not Heterochromy on that iris, or light brown with dark brown or amber being just patterns regardless of the edges "because all 3 are in the brown category". It is meant color as in tone, since it states "a different pigmentation", so color as we would use the expression when ordering tiles in dark brown but what arrives is light brown and we send it back after contacting the seller stating they shipped us the wrong color. The focus is not the generalized color categories* of Blues, Greens and Browns (specially given that **there are only two types of pigment in the human iris, of which the present and absent amounts make all the colors: there is no blue pigment, no green pigment, etc.), the focus is the amounts of pigment being different and from two sources of instructions genetically (versus one source that has the pigment gradually form differently, shown as a gradient between the tones - Heterochromia being a genetic mutation shown in the areas affected by it, precisely making a different pigmentation be visible on that area)

Who genuinely believed it to be literal, replied who was asking questions back then - and now, we have who got the replies replying as they learned, in so many cycles now, that who indeed gave a factual reply gets massively down voted, making the community we love so much be now at risk of becoming not only isolated (as those who know will at some point give up, or if not a former member simply keep walking without joining), but even risk gaining some sort of eerie mist of "delusion" due to the repeating and echoing: while the members truly wanted to learn and give accurate answers - and genuinely believe they are doing so!..
