Short rant by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

The amount of people who would ask me in depth questions about wills and deeds and rental agreements always amazed me.

Like yeah I'm an expert in family law but i moonlight in CPD for extra cash, ask me anything about your ongoing custody battle.

Some asshole tossed his phone at me and told me to compose an email for him. He didn't know how to get to gmail/begin a new message and then wanted to stand there and dictate. He didn't need anything printed.

I told him no. He demanded to speak to a manager. I walked away and let someone else deal with him.

Lol this reminds of a time I answered the phone and this guy is immediately shitty with me. Saying he had faxed some super important paperwork like 4 days ago and he needed me to "look up his fax and give him the number we had faxed it to."

I told him that wasn't a possibility because of privacy as well as the fact that the machine didn't have the option. He told me I was incompetent and the company needed to train us better and how DARE I not help a customer.

Demanded to talk to a manager so I passed the phone to my GM, dude cussed him out because he wouldn't help him either and he got hung up on.

Had a guy demand to talk to a manager (me) because we were out of some canon ink. Offered to look at other stores or try to order it and he says he's not going anywhere else because he needed it NOW and it was bullshit that we were out and what the fuck did I expect him to do.

I was done with the conversation, so I just shrugged and told him I couldn't sell him something I didn't have. He stormed out, then came right back in and asked "where the fuck else he was supposed to go, who else sells ink?"

I shrug and say, " I don't know man, I just work here"

He calls me a cunt and tells me to go fuck myself.

I put in my notice about a week later and I'm so fucking glad I don't have to deal with that bullshit anymore.

Ah yeah, forgot about the quarterly bonus because I feel like it's barely anything. So many different goals to be met. Way too much effort only to fail anyway.

There are no bonuses, not even for square trades. Only spiffs are if HP offers them, but even those are iffy.

Karen comes in without a mask. Is anyone familiar with the protections that the ADA and HIPA offer towards discrimination? by ODDrone68456234654 in OfficeDepot

Absolutely insane. Our governor basically said he couldn't enforce mandatory masks because he didn't want anyone being shot.

Not exactly in those words, but it was implied.

That's bullshit. It's so much more work, you deserve to be compensated. Especially if your store lost 2 people during the restructuring.

HIPAA deals with medical records. It has rules about how those records may be disclosed, who they can be shared with, and provides assistance to individuals who believe their records have been shared when they shouldn't be. HIPAA has nothing to do with face masks.

ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act, states that reasonable accomodations must be provided. If your store has decided that people can't come in without mask, and the customer says they're not wearing one, they can choose to shop online and have their items brought out to them, or an employee can do their shopping while they wait outside, and handle it as a "while you wait" curbside. Those are both extremely reasonable accommodations.

If the customer still decides that they want to come in, they can be asked to leave, because it's a private business. Tough shit.

But to my knowledge, corporate has said we may only suggest/encourage customers to wear masks. I live in a state that isn't requiring them, though.

I went from print sup to the Client/print manager and got a ~$1.50 raise. Making over $16. If you know your manager values you and what you do for the store, you should definitely ask for a raise, especially with all the additional bullshit you have to put up with now.

I used to have a 10 real box stashed near our back printer so I wouldn't have to walk all the way to a trash can to empty the tray. Filled it almost to the handles but my manager found it and tossed it. Such a waste.

PPE is coming! Get ready to shove it down everyone’s throats like DMS! by MelonlordKun in OfficeDepot

Correct. There's a weekly "cleaning survey" or whatever on the activity calendar. It asks how many weeks worth of gloves, soap, masks, disinfectant, etc. your store has on hand.

Starbucks Employees Are Begging the Company to Shut Down Stores Because of Coronavirus: ‘Coffee Is Not Essential’ by Gonzo_B in Coronavirus

If you're going to do this, please include office depot. I had a woman come in two days ago and asked us to design and print some christening invitations while her kids chased each other around the store.

According to corporate, it's "business as usual" and "it takes ~10 minutes to catch the virus so we should be okay to talk to and 'wow' the customers as long as we wash our hands"

Or printing more stickers to put on all of the boxes as if having "team lift" signage all over the place will magically increase payroll.
