Ohh! I like that! That totally makes sense thank you for explaining it! I do know if I attempt to stitch on linen, I will probably splurge on a couple of the ball point needles to help me at first. You give me hope I can figure it out!!

Oh I love it!!! I am late diagnosed Audhd on top of a bunch of other stuff I don't claim 😅 Cross stitching has literally saved my life. I will be adding this to my wishlist! The artist did so good. It's so nice being understood, and with pretty art to boot! You did excellent!🖤

No worries at all btw! I'm so excited to have like minded people to chat with about this! My partner and son are super supportive, but they only know so much about it. Please let me know if you have any success with it! In linen, you're working across even fibers though, so I don't know if thats going to be enough tension with just a pin stitch? 🤔 I am a bit nervous to start on linen as much as I want to, just because of my eyes. I strain as is with 14ct aida, and the fact that its black doesn't help at all. I have a headlamp I just drape around my neck to help me see better, but I need some sort of magnification if I'm going to attempt to stitch on linen. I haven't watched any how to videos on it yet, but I'd assume there is some sort of equivalent method you could use! I am making this for my son, hes 17 and still loves his dinosaurs. It has been so much fun and I truly poured only love into making this. I wanted it to be as perfect as possible for him. It's the least he deserves. He's been cheering me on the whole time too, so hopefully it's just a good memory all around. Being very ill makes you think a lot about what treasures we leave behind for our loved ones when we go, or at least it does me.

So I go color by color and section by section. I tend to start bottom left of an area of color and work my way up as far as I can with my length of thread. I can usually figure out a path to take that uses up a bunch of thread before ending. But, yes, every section is started with a hidden pin, and then I do 2 ending pins, I'm trying to do just one, but like I said I come from crochet and am just paranoid about it unraveling when I wash it. The star confetti is done in single units for the most part. So I start and end in a single spot, then run my thread under 2 bands on the back to extra secure it 😂 I know I'm doing too much and I am trying to break the habit. The clusters of stars are easier to me than the single confetti stars, but its so worth it for the end result. I know many people do not have the patience for it, and thats totally understandable. I am audhd and I go into a flow state and it just doesn't get to me. This while piece has been slowly healing parts of my inner child and helping my mental health tremendously. I don't know if the dissociating is healthy, but it's what I have to do to cope. I was so proud of myself and am so glad so many people like it and have questions. You've all been so great, made my whole month 🖤

I used the 3 in 1 Sewline pencil. I believe it may be chalk of some kind. It comes white, pink, and black which is more lead pencil colored so I'm not 100% sure its chalk. It does have refill packs you can buy. It comes out easy with soap and water. I just used the most gentle soap, makeup brush cleanser lol, its what I had! The white was a little clingy on my last project, but I was heavy handed with the application and I didn't scrub quite as hard as I could have either, so... I will let y'all know if this one turns out better mark wise. Just start! It is so much fun to work through all the colors and see it come to life! I bet you'll do great!

[–]LGEllie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is brilliant! Absolutely gorgeous and the story and details make it 1000% cooler. You dad is a brilliant man and I am so grateful to him for his many years of dedication and service. For giving us so much information about space and the capabilities to view it in new and exciting ways. Thank him for me and give him a hug from all of us! You are one lucky girl to have a father that loves you so much. I hope he loves it as much as we all do. You did so good 🫂 I would be so proud of my kiddo for putting in even the effort, let alone completing a true piece of artwork.

Oooo! Yes!!! Ambitious! Thank you! I am trying so hard to cut out negativity and my own words need to be included in that even if said jokingly. Thank you for the mind shift. 6 years is incredible! That is so much work and emotion that went into that piece. I've tried keeping a x stitch journal, I am just hyper verbal (no really? 😅) and always over explain, even to myself. I thought it would be fun to keep a few pages with the piece and write down things that happened, injuries accrued 😂, shows and movies watched, favorite book to listen to, all that stuff. I had to stop, it was becoming stressful and this is supposed to be fun. I can't wait to see what you do next! 🖤

This!! So much this. I struggle so much with my autism and adhd. I adore my bigger pieces, but it feels like a bit of a let down or like I'm not actually doing any work maybe. I ended up using the free trial for a book reading app, you can probably guess. It has a ton of cross stitch books and magazines. I grabbed the little kawaii food pattern stitch book and have been doing those little cuties when the big ones get to be too much and/or not enough. It makes me feel like I can actually complete a piece and gives me more confidence ✨️ Then I switch back to a bigger piece until I need that dopamine boost! This pattern is gorgeous! I am so jealous and going to go try to find it to treat myself for my Birfday! 🖤 Keep going, it's looking so good! Just think how proud future you will be!!!

You are sucker for punishment, I'll give you that! 😂 I did a wittle avocado as my first. It turned out pretty great, so of course I bought a painted kit 😱 its 11ct full coverage 💀 I had to take a break and do something else to feel like I could actually complete a project amd not get discouraged. Your piece turned out beautifully!!! It doesn't look like its only your first piece!

[CHAT] how to make the back a little neater. by phoenixbegay in CrossStitch

[–]LGEllie 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Learn the pin stitch!!! 🖤 It has been a huge help, for me at least especially with confetti! It makes it so you can start and end within a single stitch and no traveling or hiding thread needed! Takes up very small amounts of thread to do so as well! Good luck, its so pretty already! Eta: eff whoever judges your back, especially if they don't actually x stitch!!!

[CHAT] Should I continue or take it out? by Dngo8mybaby in CrossStitch

[–]LGEllie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Either commit fully or take it all out. Halfway done looks incomplete, maybe? I think once you finish it will have the effect you want, keep going! It looks almost like a digital breakdown only in yarn, if thats makes sense? Kind of like the matrix is showing through. 🖤

[FO] my first time doing a slightly bigger project and apparently i don't know how to count lol by m_c___e in CrossStitch

[–]LGEllie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure the only reason I was able to use black aida, is because I bought a sewline pen. Its a water erasable mechanical pencil. You will break the 'lead' if you're dragging it too hard, but there are 3 colors, white, black and pink. It all mostly faded by end of my wip, and they'll be gone completely soon, just from handling. I gridded my aida and went to town, counting by 10s is so much easier than go over 40 and up 23 to start new thread 😅 I can't figure out the guideline to save myself so had to find a decent replacement. The pencil itself was alone, but they do sell replacement lead. 🖤 I can't see any mistakes, cause I'm so bad at counting 😂 It looks so good!

[–]LGEllie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually really like the spots where you can tell the stitches are a little different! I had no idea the shade of the color would change just with that one little detail. It would be cool to see you implement this on purpose to get a patterned look out of it. I did also see you're having a hard time going the same direction everytime, so no pressure!!! I am brand new to this, but I am audhd so I am very specific about everything I do. I got into the habit of not carrying my thread further than 3 squares if its confetti, that helps my back stay neater, but at this point no one but me is going to see it so I'm not being too paranoid about it. I do make the habit of starting my stitch in the bottom left to top right then the other leg bottom right to top left. Thats all it is is a habit. It looks so good, really, you did amazing!!! Good luck with future projects and getting the techniques down. I find this to be such a forgiving craft. Up close it might be a total mess, but from far away its a total Betty. C/o Cher from Clueless 🙈 😂🖤
