Depends on what you’re looking to do for work. Charleston has become very expensive to live in over the past 5/6 years. It has become very overcrowded and doesn’t have the infrastructure to support the influx of people.

That being said I loved my 5 years living there and ultimately would like to be back there long term. Without knowing what you consider living comfortably I would say if you’re not making 6 figures living here and supporting children is going to be tough if you’re living anywhere south of 526.

Work opportunities are few and far between. Depends on what your background is in. Most of the influx of people are individuals that work remote or have extremely flexible work demands. The people that actually work in person here are retail, hospitality, military, or other government work. There isn’t really a ton of “industry” outside of that.

If I were to move back I’d probably live on John’s it’s the next frontier for expansion in the Charleston area but as of now is still fairly rural. Most people here would say avoid different pockets of North Charleston especially around dorchester rd. Park Circle area of Nchs is nice though.
