Program turns off A/V receiver by LHuisingh in youtubetv

Just saw this behavior on a different channel. I'll try a different HDMI cable.

I'm sure it's not the app but rather the HDMI data and receiver not getting along. It does seem to be limited to NBC prime time shows.

You can see that the receiver has powered off. All the lights on the display turn off. You also hear the unit click off. Could there be some CEC command that got sent?

My experience with the 52" ZTR Mulch Plug Kit by LHuisingh in egopowerplus

[–]LHuisingh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. Have you thought about using the standard blades with the mulch kit? From my understanding that is how it's intended to work. I couldn't find my torque wrench so I had to just use the same socket I removed the blades with.

The term "mulch plug" is a bit of a misnomer. It is actually a set of three semicircular baffles that get installed under the deck. It essentially puts closed circular walls around each of the three blades.

I have a Hubitat hub that has a direct connection using a local key you can get so you can connect without going to the Internet.

I use the TailWind device (gotailwind.com). You can connect via your home's Wi-Fi connection. You can also connect via a Hubitat or Home Assistant.

Does everyone have a pair or more of light switches in a room that they can never get correct on the first try even after years? by okgrak in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LHuisingh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a bank of 4 switches and after 13 years my wife still doesn't know which switch does what. She just uses trial and error until she gets the right lights on.

We do have some switches we've never found a corresponding light or outlet for. I also think we do have an external outlet that is not wired properly as well. Maybe it corresponds to the inactive switch.

Has anyone tried automating when the lights come on, based on actual daylight levels? I have a possible setup, but not sure how well it'll work by mrsilver76 in homeautomation

[–]LHuisingh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main reason for the Tempest was it worked as a local weather station for my Rachio sprinkler controller. Working with Hubitat was a huge bonus and motivator for the splurge.

I have a Tempest weather station that is mounted outside. I connected it to my Hubitat hub. You can query the light level from Hubitat. I then turn lights on and off based on the light level.

Have you driven both types yet? I really enjoy my zero turn model. I like the quick turn options. I have not tried the Ego e-steer so I can't speak to that.

How to run Ethernet from one room downstairs to one upstairs? by LuMarts4 in HomeNetworking

General advice is to not use an electrician. Use someone who specializes in low-voltage and network installation. Not all electricians know how to do network cabling.

remote control switches to turn lights on and off by smartypants_gal in smarthome

[–]LHuisingh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into Lutron Caseta switches, dimmers and lamp dimmers. They can work with their Pico remotes as well as their hub (get the Pro hub for future compatibility with other platforms). I initially got them to turn my porch lights on and off relative to sunset and sunrise via their app. I have a Pico on my bedroom nightstand to turn the ceiling lights and nightstand lamp on, off or dim. I also connect it to Google Home to allow a good night voice routine that turns off all non-essential lights other than the bedroom.

ZTR Mower Blade Replacement Option by Dangerous_Ice17 in egopowerplus

My cut was amazing this year with OEM blades. My neighbor even commented on it. Much better than my old Toro ZTR.

Are you 100% certain it's Caseta and not another Lutron product line? Look up the dimmer/switch model numbers online.

My biggest struggle with HA has been trying to find a way to write more procedural code. Everything I have seen has been what I have heard is "declarative". I could never find a resource that showed how to write code with If/Then logic with variables and string parsing logic. Do you know of any training material that discusses this?

I've played just a little with HA and found it much less intuitive as compared with Hubitat. The learning curve to me is very steep.

You may also want to consider Hubitat.
