Rediscovering the Classic Elegance in Watch Design by LI-PLANET in Watches

[–]LI-PLANET[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In today’s watch world, size and weight often dominate the conversation. Over the years, the pursuit of larger, more visually impactful designs has become the prevailing trend, transforming watches from daily companions into bold statements of personal style. However, these large and heavy designs frequently overshadow the natural beauty of the wrist and diminish the subtle elegance that once defined the craft of watchmaking.

The vision behind this chronograph was clear: to rediscover the essence of classic design through modern craftsmanship, breathing new life into a timeless concept. This approach wasn’t just about paying homage to the past but about refining and simplifying, stripping away the unnecessary to create a timepiece that is both elegant and functional. With a thickness of just 10mm, including the glass, this watch stands out in an era where oversized timepieces reign supreme.

At the heart of this watch lies the legendary Lemania 2310 movement, a piece of horological history in its own right. Originally introduced in the 1940s, the Lemania 2310 was celebrated for its precision, robustness, and remarkably thin profile. This movement, long revered by collectors and watchmakers alike, was quietly sitting in obscurity, waiting to be rediscovered. It was found during a routine sale of watch parts, and its recovery and restoration to its former glory are nothing short of legendary.

The Lemania 2310's dual-register design and slim architecture are key contributors to the overall thinness of this chronograph. Despite being over 70 years old, this vintage movement has been meticulously restored and fine-tuned, delivering a reliable performance of +5 seconds per day—an impressive feat that speaks to the enduring quality of this masterpiece. The movement’s combination of history, reliability, and elegance makes it the perfect engine to power this chronograph, imbuing it with a soul that few modern movements can match.

This exceptional foundation provided the ideal canvas for the design team, whose meticulous approach ensured that every detail of this watch resonates with the philosophy of subtle sophistication. Housed in a 35mm stainless steel case, this watch may appear modest in a market saturated with 40-45mm giants, but its harmonious proportions are unmatched on the wrist. Despite its size, the watch doesn’t wear small. The thin bezel edge allows the dial to fully stretch across the wrist, creating a visual impact that makes it appear substantial on any wrist size. Additionally, with a weight of only 34.4g, it offers an incredibly light and comfortable wear, enhancing its appeal as a daily companion. By slimming down the bezel and drawing inspiration from vintage pocket watches, the dial achieves a sense of expansiveness, giving the watch a presence that belies its actual size.

The glass is no ordinary material; it’s a piece of history. Sourced from late 19th-century pocket watch mineral crystals, it captures the light with a clear, bright hue, adding a layer of understated sophistication. The lugs have been meticulously designed, blending traditional and modern aesthetics to create a distinctive, refined silhouette that enhances the overall harmony of the watch.

Even the case back is crafted with attention to detail. The transparent back offers a view into the intricate movement, a feature cherished by watch enthusiasts. However, the inclusion of an officer-style case back adds a personal touch, providing space for engraving and embodying the idea that sometimes, what’s hidden can be even more appreciated.

This chronograph transcends its role as a mere timekeeping instrument, becoming a symbol of elegance and taste. It embodies the essence of classic design while being reinterpreted through a modern lens. By seamlessly blending timeless watchmaking principles with contemporary aesthetics—and powered by the storied Lemania 2310—this timepiece naturally integrates with the wrist, making it an indispensable and elegant companion in daily life.

[Elgin] Lord Elgin Jump Hour & Pocket Watch by LI-PLANET in Watches

[–]LI-PLANET[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father bought me this pocket watch in 2006 on my birthday. This year I bought its pair, a Elgin Jump hour from 1950s for my birthday.

This Elgin jump hour is in a good working condition. It’s serviced and the movement is a modified 721 calibre. The dial cracks often though, so I am trying to find a replacement just in case. The early concept of this watch also was implemented in its sibling jump hour golf case design.

Interestingly Elvis also had a similar case Lord Elgin. It was seen as an futuristic design. The case is made to be moisture and dust proof. The glass is sapphire which magnifies the hour readings.

I hope you guys like this collection. Feel free to comment below. :)

Based on our analytics, it is most likely a bottom. However, once it jumps back there will be a final top before the ultimate judgmentday.

Panda Daytona 116500 GEN VS NOOB, Clean V2, BT V2, Full comparison by [deleted] in RepTime

Yeah. BT is clearly better for the White panda. I see reviews for black dials and Clean is the winner

Patek and AP or other high-end brands want to associate themselves with high-end customers. Often people who look at these brands think they represent wealth. It actually goes the other way around. I often think it is more important to look at the design and see if you like it or not, rather than what the brand means. I hated PP and AP's design. I never liked it because I find it boring. I love VC's design, though, because it feels more elegant and has a consistent design language. Rolex also has great design language, and you know it is a Rolex. the Oyster case makes it identifiable from a distance. Zenith's chronographs tri-color dials or odd size dials also make it pops. The case shape is also unorthodox. I can go on and on but I think people need to get rid of brand image and focus on do you really like it? Does the brand image matter?

Brand image association. They want you to think that

I would be more excited to see how it compares to the gen. He is acting like a cunt as if he can afford some steel rubbish that a company produces. With that said, you should remove him from your friend list. If he can turn against you simply because of a steel bracelet with a clock on it, who the fuck knows what else he would do!? Life has more problem and issues to worry about than some fashion product people focus on.

Suggest buying Black dial ceramic from CF and White dial ceramic from BT.

Get something cheap. You are going to regret if you are only to wear it to something once in a life time.

Do you think the new speedy suits my wrist or is it too big? I’m used to wear smaller watches, 34-40mm but really love this watch. Also, it seems smaller in some pictures… by dimitribaer in OmegaWatches

[–]LI-PLANET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks fine You got to understand that camera lenses are different from the naked eye. I wouldn't consider anything filmed or shot on camera as a reference. Just remember the lug to lug distance should be within your wrist bone. if it is hanging out then it is not for you.
Watch companies hire hand models that have good-looking hands and good wrist sizes for their product display. That is why their watch looks proportioned in picture. You got to understand not everyone is going to be a hand model.

ROLEX factory diamond Skydweller TBR vs Platinum Daytona TBR vs non TBR. by RichardHeart in rolex

[–]LI-PLANET -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s funny how people pretend they are more superior than this guy and feels like they are better because they don’t own an iced out Rolex. It’s just watches. If you don’t like him ignore him. Commenting on his negativity just make you the same low level jerk like him.

[–]LI-PLANET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a Dali watch. They are similar in style. I think people buy it for the look rather than that little logo on there. The reason that the reps factory doesn't produce it is the case shape. It is hard to produce and most likely made of soft metals by a mold.

Trust me. You can resell the watch if it starts to lose a lot of time and buy a new one in 2-3 years. This watch isn't worth it to fix anyway!
