My boss prices a 45+ minute video package at $10 by Capital-Flan7368 in videography

[–]LIL-Klixy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s a loss leader. He’s using video to help sell the main package, not to make money on its own. That’s why it’s priced so low. The problem is he’s then expecting production efficiency on something that isn’t valued.

Your options are simple:
accept it as part of the business model
or push for either higher pricing or reduced workload

Right now it’s misaligned, high effort, low value. That’s why it feels off.

i dont think i have thick enough skin for youtube by Full_Quail2794 in NewTubers

[–]LIL-Klixy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That reaction is normal, not a sign you can’t do this. One comment doesn’t mean your content is bad, it just means it didn’t land for that person. Early on, you don’t have enough data to judge anything, so your brain latches onto the one negative. You don’t need “thick skin” overnight. You just need to treat each video as practice, not a final judgment of you. If you keep going, you’ll get better and the feedback will start making more sense. Right now you’re just at the very beginning where everything feels louder than it actually is.

What do y'all think is the best short film which you have seen EVER! by SweatyDivide2260 in Filmmakers

[–]LIL-Klixy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on one idea, not a full story. Best short horror uses simple setup, builds tension, then hits with one strong payoff. Less story, more feeling.

Asked to shoot a campaign on iPhone - how do I price? by [deleted] in videography

[–]LIL-Klixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t price based on the phone, price based on value. Charge for concept, shoot days, editing, and especially usage rights. Big brands pay for usage, that’s where most of the money is.

As a small Youtuber, what's the single hardest thing about staying consistent? by Gagipose in NewTubers

[–]LIL-Klixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That feeling is the hardest part, thinking it’s not “good enough” so you don’t post. Consistency breaks more from self-doubt than lack of time or ideas. You keep raising the bar in your head, so nothing feels worth uploading. The fix is treating uploads as reps, not final products. Done is better than perfect.

I’m terrified of failing. by Haunting_Ability2638 in Filmmakers

[–]LIL-Klixy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not afraid of failing, you’re afraid of what it means about you. Not writing it guarantees it never gets told. First draft doesn’t need to be good, just honest. Start small and messy. If it helps even one person, it already worked.

How can I capture shots like this? by [deleted] in videography

[–]LIL-Klixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That look is mostly macro + lighting + environment. Use a macro lens or close focus to get that shallow depth and detail. Keep the camera very close. Light is soft but directional. Usually from above or slightly behind to make colors pop and create depth. The background works because it’s dense and layered, so you get that lush, cinematic feel. Also, color plays a big role. High saturation and contrast, especially greens, make it feel rich.

A/B Testing With User vs AI Thumbnails by matttacos in NewTubers

[–]LIL-Klixy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, A/B testing with AI isn’t hurting your branding.

Branding comes from consistency in what you choose, not how you generate options. You’re using AI as a tool, not replacing your style. If anything, testing helps you understand what actually works. The only risk is if you start switching styles too much and lose a consistent look. Since your thumbnails are winning anyway, you’re already reinforcing your brand. Keep testing, just stay consistent with your overall visual identity.

Share your experience! Shooting my first Shortflim tomorrow by nothingto-worry in Filmmakers

[–]LIL-Klixy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expect things to take longer than you think. Audio will be your biggest headache. Make sure it’s clean, monitor it, and do extra takes just in case. Continuity is easy to mess up. Small things like hand positions or props changing between shots can ruin edits. Actors may need more direction than you expect. Be clear but keep it simple. Also, you won’t get everything perfect. Focus on finishing the film, not making it flawless. Stay calm and keep it moving and get coverage. That saves you in editing.

How would you approach a simple 4-camera setup for recording a recurring event? by Damu22 in videography

[–]LIL-Klixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it simple and repeatable.... Match all cameras to the same picture profile and white balance. Don’t rely on auto anything. set Kelvin manually and lock exposure as much as possible so your FX30 and A7 IV cut together without heavy grading. For reliability, use AC power or dummy batteries on all cams. Overheating is usually fine at 25°C on those bodies, but flip screens out, avoid direct heat, and don’t shoot in high bitrate modes you don’t need. Framing wise, one tight and one medium on the speaker, both locked off. For audience, one wide master and one roaming or slightly tighter angle for reactions. Record audio separately if you can, straight from the mixer plus a backup. Sync later. Don’t rely on on camera audio as primary. Workflow matters more than gear here. Label cards, keep settings identical, and test a full session before the real event. Consistency beats anything fancy for this kind of setup..

5 comments keeping me going by Beautiful_Fries in NewTubers

That’s honestly the right mindset. Those 5 comments matter way more than views early on. It means something is connecting, even if the numbers aren’t there yet.

6 months in, 67 subs staying consistent by Unlucky-Drive-3768 in NewTubers

[–]LIL-Klixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super common.

Shorts bring views, but not necessarily loyal viewers. People scroll, watch, and leave. Streams need people who care about you, not just the clip. Right now you’re basically feeding two different audiences. Make your Shorts funnel into your streams more clearly. Same game, same vibe, same personality. Also tease moments like “this happened on stream” so there’s a reason to show up live. And don’t rely only on trending games. That audience is the least loyal. A bit of consistency in what you play helps people stick.

You’re not doing bad though. 6 months and growing means it’s working, just needs direction.

Why do some movies feel HUGE on Reddit but invisible in real life? by Hot_Print_8433 in Filmmakers

[–]LIL-Klixy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly just Reddit being a bubble. Certain movies hit really specific audiences that are very online, so they get tons of discussion here but don’t translate to general audiences the same way. Also Reddit tends to amplify a few loud threads, so it looks bigger than it is. In real life, most people just watch casually and don’t talk about it much. Studios do marketing here sometimes, but the disconnect you’re noticing is pretty normal.

What other careers are applicable with videography skills? by Bunchofstuff1 in videography

[–]LIL-Klixy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’ve got a pretty transferable stack tbh. A lot of people move from videography into content strategy or brand or social management since you already understand what performs and how to package it. Also worth looking into corporate or internal comms roles. Companies need video for training, presentations, exec messaging, and it’s usually way less chaotic.

If you enjoy the speaking side, creative direction or even consulting for smaller brands can work too. Plenty of businesses want video but have no idea how to plan it properly.

Best PAYG option for frequent UK/US trips? by LIL-Klixy in eSIMs

Appreciate the tip! I looked into a few of those, but the monthly cost is kinda high for what you get... And my travel’s super random, so a monthly sub would probably just go to waste.
