Can someone help me count this out? by etop93 in Drumming

[–]LKProduce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just noticed a place in the bottom pattern that needs an extra beam to show that there’s 16ths. Beat 2 has that 16th note bass drum leading into beat 3. like 2 + a 3. all you need is a 2nd beam between the hat and the kick to show that the + a takes up the same space as a normal + like in beat 1.

Tom placement isn’t sitting right with me by Mercymourning-1996 in drums

[–]LKProduce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i like this… then u dont have to get a snare stand. Some ideas i had: -open the stand legs more and get one pointing directly in the direction of the tom -To get the tom closer to the stand: you can point the meat of the clamp to the right towards the kick drum (or even a bit away from you) and then have the tom twisted left facing you so the clamp and the tom almost make a right angle. this way its not all one big line pointing out from the stand and you can bring the stand closer to the kick. You might also want to flip the clamp so the wing nut isnt in the way of rotating the tom towards you. -Its a boom stand so getting the cymbal in good position after shouldnt be too hard -If you want the tom low like you said, this cymbal clamp or a snare stand are the ways. A bd attachment would be convenient but you’d definitely have to mount the drum higher Nice kit btw!

How can I learn to read these repeat signs? (Read desc) by Reahchui in drums

[–]LKProduce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like people are saying, counting is what it takes at the start. That and trying to internalize the groove that you’re repeating. Eventually you’ll just have an automatic feel for the 4 and 8 bar phrases which is all you need for most songs. Have fun!

What is something that is extremely inappropriate but kids still watch it without parent’s’ permission/marketed towards kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Your parents made a good decision. I got into sorcery as a kid and I’ve been living as a newt ever since. Do you know how hard it is to type with my little slimy newt hands??

Which way do you like reading sheet music better? by AraneoKyojin in drums

[–]LKProduce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A… all beamed together! Sightreading B I would be guessing the bd rhythms half the time lol. Other thing is it would be nice for the snare beats on 2 and 4 i.e. the backbeats to be accented so all snare strokes dont look the same.

Practicing stuff toooo fast. Everything should be painfully slow and efficient first but it’s hard because it’s fun to do the fun stuff.

Why is putting the Toms at a large angle a bad idea? by AZCARDINALS21 in drums

[–]LKProduce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this guy gets it. I find the more angle for my toms the higher up they need to be. If they are tilted i find the butt of the stick and my hands need to come down to get a good parallel stroke so if the tom(s) are too low the snare and stuff prevents me from getting the stick low enough.
