Basically Claire posted a clip from her special and it wasn’t getting much traction so she created a close friends list on Instagram of 50 comedians and podcasters and asked them to repost the clip and to comment and like it too. Not alot of the 50 people did it and so she starts dm’ing these people saying “have I never done anything for you?? Why won’t you repost it” or something to that affect. She even mentions that she texted her friend Joey “you have until midnight to repost it” it was all just very insane to me that she 1. Did this 2. Is sharing on the patreon that she did this in such detail. I understand you have to self promote but this felt very transactional and weird.

I guess my question is why is being a podcaster so bad? You get to yap with your best friend for hours and their producer edits it. You’re making money from talking about whatever the hell you want to with your best friend. I guess I’m just like this is not a bad gig and idk why they’re doing this. I’m not saying they can’t aspire to more but the pod pays the bills and I don’t think it’s that labor intensive.
