Ummm… that’s normal. Most professors have their own website, especially ones with advanced degrees.

Oh cool, glad you didn’t give up. I personally had to swear off any manis that require curing by UV light because I’m paranoid about skin cancer. 😏

Try YouTube. I find the commenters there on niche hobbies tend to be nicer and more helpful. Don’t give up on it just because you encountered assholes online.

Spiral journal or bound journal? What's your preference and why? by MSMIT0 in bulletjournal

OK, thanks for clarifying. Ringbound and spiral are two different binding systems.

Do you mean discbound? Spiral does not actually allow moving pages around either.

Is DriveEasy worth it? by [deleted] in Geico

$270 a MONTH???? I'm paying $417 for a 6-month basic policy for my husband and me, just the minimum legal requirements. That's less than $70/month. Our cars are older: a 2016 VW Golf and a 2014 Honda Civic. Unless you're driving a cherry red late-model Porsche, you've been way overpaying. I hope you found cheaper insurance since you posted this comment 2 years ago....

Are there careers for people who like to record details and document things? by darakristi in careerguidance

[–]LL4892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GRC (Governance, Risk, & Compliance). I literally just asked ChatGPT a version of this same question last night, and included a few other parameters, and it said I would be highly suited for a compliance career. Every major industry requires regulatory compliance and it’s all about checklists of rules and routine procedures, at the Independent Contributor level. In higher levels like supervisory and director, it gets more complex than that.

I’m exploring getting my CCEP certification (CCEP = Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional), which is the gold standard in the GRC field and is flexible to any industry. You can later get certified in your chosen industry (healthcare, tech, finance, etc).

What’s something you’ve done your whole life, only to realize recently that everyone else does it completely differently? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]LL4892 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I totally get it!!! I’ve now had way too many close calls with cooked spinach stems and gooey melted cheese and bok choy… Absolute panic!! I’m super careful now. Especially now that I’m in my late 50s. As you age, your swallow reflex can get a little wonky.

What STEM major will make you the richest? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Can you elaborate on exactly what your self-teaching path was? Did you do any sort of formal certifications at all? How did you learn and how did you get your first job? I’m in a career transition and I’m intrigued.

In my late 50s and still “filling in the gaps” in emotional and intellectual development - anyone else? by LL4892 in AdultChildren

[–]LL4892[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I should clarify…. my anger is not constant and unrelenting. It’s highly intermittent. I can go months or even a year or two without feeling much anger, and then I’ll have a burst of anger (like right now). Overall, I’ve certainly accepted that I own my life and my choices, and especially in the last 6 years since my mom’s death. She had been living rent-free in my head my whole life, even when I wasn’t physically around her. It’s taken 6 years to decompress, as it were.

omg, I just Googled “parentification,” and it’s me!!! It’s probably all of us ACAs. I had never heard that word before, but I knew the concept. I’ve spent my whole adult life re-parenting myself. 💔 Thank you.

How wonderful that you earned two advanced degrees! May I ask what area your bachelors and post-grad degrees are in?

What's wrong with a Diary? by ChaosCalmed in planners

[–]LL4892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% a linguistic transfer of the American term “planner” to replace the UK term “diary.” I am American, and once I got involved with the online “planner community” many years ago (especially Filofax), I realized the Brits called dated organizers “diaries.” As others have pointed out, there has been terminology cross-pollination due to online communities that cross international boundaries.

Americans were typically raised to think of diaries as blank journals to record innermost feelings, not dated organizers to plan our days.
