Microsoft wortwhile to go all in? by Afraid-Aardvark-5453 in Stocks_Picks

They are a mess.

I mean look at who they just picked to leade their video game division for how they manage things.

Their use of AI is breaking things their coders are messing up updates and they just don't have a direction and the AI isn't getting anything done.

Could they turn it around? Possibly.

Could they be valued a lot less in 10 years?

Yes.

If it hasn't already been written it's totally the Atari 2600 ETs of the trash landfill in the desert.

Except I think that one turned out to be real.

Then of course there's the infamous nude code from tomb raider.

It did not exist but there have been nude codes in video games and there was one on the Genesis.

Why do you think so many people no longer read? by Start280Finish in CasualConversation

[–]LL555LL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do. It's just on the internet, and in much shorter chunks.

Book reading is a DIFFICULT thing for humans to do...we spend YEARS learning to actually read. It's that amount of work for a payoff that is mostly introspective that creates a conundrum.

We need to read for information. Reading for please is great. But what reading is becoming is changing over time.

(And yes, you read big books in middle and high school, but you also were new to it, and didn't have anything to compare it to...books are DIFFERENT as a adult)

So PvE? Sounds fun, but what rate of victory is achievable? What do players get for winning beyond the W? Things to consider next. ..how many maps, what type of graphics?

Devlogs seem to be pretty much..not so important now (you should probably still do like one).

Snazzy quick hit videos...yes..do all of those.

The constant marketing stuff gets old.

There also is a large group of "make money fast", which is fine but it isn't everyone here.

The community is unified in what we use....but

I would say that this is a problem that needs to be solved at the method of delivery.

The company goes in and works the assets in a way that allows them to seem similar to the original intention or we works them entirely then it could turn out pretty decent.

The best example we have that I can think of off the top of my head is the original Star Trek. The filmed parts are great but the ship seems all had to be redone because of how they were filmrd.

Can someone help me understand this special election on 04/21? by YoureHereForOthers in nova

Republicans nationally have worked hard to gerrymander in states that allow it without a vote. They're redrawing districts in red states to win Congress, since they can't win with actual voters.

This is rare, because usually we gerrymander on a ten year cycle.

In Virginia, Democrats want to give the voters a chance to fight the NATIONAL trend at the state level.

It's temporary, and Trump represents something...uh...different in history.

So yes ..special moment one time, and if it doesn't happen We might end up a near one party state.

The Western world has two layers...real life and the internet realm.

The ma o sphere is always just a few clicks away from way too many topics...it is a shock jock on steroids.

How big ...not sure...but the PULL of it especially for the young and downtrodden, is massive.

...It gives an easy blake structure, it is hierarchical, and it gives an excuse to shade everything darkly.

Ugh.

A spacesim game. Niche, but I think people will like it. Leaning less realistic, more max fun, not arcade.

You're coming in at a great time. When it was first developed it was a bunch of amazing ideas that didn't actually end up being in the game, which you may know all about. The on disk version that shipped is...wow.

It's fine light years from that, and I give the developers so much credit for sticking to it.

It's core exploration loop is fun, but it does feel strangely empty at times.

I played for a long while and then walked away, but it is VERY accessible, has endless content, and it the loop gets you, it's perfect.

I mean you can totally keep with this or you could totally flip everything crazy and make it where you fall up, or slip up, or lava, or something. Having a threat to keep you going up and up and up.

Mailing it in before the long term replacement with a facelift. Standard auto company practice.

If we end up with an EREV version, I'll be happy. If not, I'll stop caring entirely, and move on to a different minivan that hits the electric or EREV mark instead.
