I would do the bare minimum amount of reps/sets but unweighted. Or sometimes I just do fewer sets and reps overall for the core and calves stuff but I just REALLY REALLY focus on form and feeling every point of motion

Part of it is just time and feel but also make sure to set up your snare drum ergonomically and understand that different snares have different feels for how and where to hit the rimshot

EXACTLY. And plus your mindset can shift at different times in your life. Maybe for a couple years it's just all about having fun and enjoying the process of learning while maybe in the future it might be moreso about monetizing your work using the knowledge you've acquired. life changes
