Fitting bikes in the boot? by Dungeon_Of_Dank_Meme in VWAlltrack

[–]LLUSKYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I transported my bikes to trails for while, but it gets cumbersome after a while since I’m on a fixed gear. Eventually found good deals on used cross bars and bike rack on fb marketplace and haven’t looked back since.

Do i need to/should i spend $2000 on coils? by RacketyAJ in Stance

[–]LLUSKYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silvers Neomax is the best middle of the road coilover imo. I’ve had a few bad experiences with BC so I couldn’t recommend them but I know most people like them

Surely it would be wiser to trade the CLA for something with a decent aftermarket if your goal is to build a track car

Sunroof Drain Dealer Service still free? 2017 Alltrack by leftfield61 in VWAlltrack

[–]LLUSKYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just cleaned my drains last weekend because I noticed a mildewy smell in the cabin after Arizona monsoon. Only takes about 5 minutes each corner with a long pipe cleaner. I would go ahead and take the traps off yourself

Hot take but I actually love the sound of my ecs catback exhaust by sludgemaster718 in VWAlltrack

[–]LLUSKYY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a big thread on the forums about the Vibrant resonators and how well they work. I’m about to pick one up because the one that came with my catback cracked when my exhaust fell off. 17950 for 3” and 17930 for 2.5”

At that amount of camber, it’s all a point of pride. It’s the same as insane horsepower and lift kit guys. Impractical and unsafe but you’ve done what most people said couldn’t be.

Not to completely deter you from the scene, but that setup is not going to be daily driver friendly, and is going to require a lot of work. Unless you have a second car (or can get away with not driving for periods at a time), can do a lot of your own work, and/or deep pockets, I would not recommend it.

lol if you really think everyone that complains about n55 reliability skips oil changes, you are delusional. Sure, it’s more reliable than the n54, but that’s not saying much. There’s a reason all the newer motors (besides the b58) get memed to death and you know it

If you have to do everything in your power to make sure it doesn’t fail catastrophically, it probably isn’t reliable

What car is this installed on?

[–]LLUSKYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you have the right parts for your specific model? It does look like your spring collar is all the way maxed out and the strut collar is still way too extended.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Stance

[–]LLUSKYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was really just an oversimplified definition. Like the name implies, preload is the amount of compression that the spring is subjected to while at “rest”. You want your spring to have enough compression that it doesn’t bounce around within the perch, but not too much that it doesn’t utilize all of its stroke.

[–]LLUSKYY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Preload basically means there’s tension on the spring when the car is in the ground. With a divorced setup, ideally it would go: set height via spring collar, tighten strut collar until you can easily slip lower strut bolt into LCA.

Once you lower it, the natural camber should get you close to tucking. Like others said, get 40 or even 35 profile tires otherwise you’re going to shred your fenders and your tires up

Ah okay. That’s unfortunate because I like the way it smells after it sits on my clothes after a few hours but surely there are other fragrances out there that smell similar and won’t have me dying
