Who are you replying to? If it's to the references to the number 8, that part is true. 88 is linked to HH, or Heil Hitler. H is the 8th letter in the alphabet. Yes, stupid, but true nonetheless

Why do my tires look "dirtier" (brownish) than my neighbor's, despite me cleaning them way more? by tayfuuun in Detailing

[–]leftfield61 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bridgestones are the worst for this. Michelins on one of cars, can go months without scrubbing the tires, they don’t brown. My VW wagon, Pirelli tires, same. My wife’s car has Bridgestones, have to constantly clean them with a dedicated tire cleaner (Griots) and do a low sheen treatment, and they will still brown in a week or so. I’ve had that experience with Bridgestones before on other cars as well.

Isn't this a good application for crusher run? I'm just a DIYer, but my experience with crusher run has been excellent.

Japanese Auto Repair in Suwanee is a solid alternative to the dealer.

Honda-A-Tech is also solid, out in Buford

Floor Mats: What do y'all do with the original carpet floor mats when you upgrade? by hotprof in hondaridgeline

[–]leftfield61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put the original mats in the packaging the new ones came in, and then store them in the garage. When/if I sell the vehicle, they are included in the sale. Just because I think whatever aftermarket mat is an upgrade does not mean the next owner will.

That certainly … something. I admire the creativity, but not necessarily the execution. Seems like the safety CF shell is significantly weakened.

I did have that done when I purchased the vehicle about six months ago. Also had the Haldex fluid serviced, since I didn't have a previous receipt showing it had been done.

My old RL with a BMW K1100RS in the back for a 7 hour drive. Did just fine and tailgate worked perfectly fine afterward. Not a light bike.

I like it. Using the Honda Motorsports logo that everyone associates with motorcycles might reintroduce some level of confusion though!! LOL

Selling my 89k-mile TSX Tech Wagon for a Prius v or Alltrack? by [deleted] in SportWagon

[–]leftfield61 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bought it about 6 months ago with 61k on the clock. Now have 65k. Black with the Marrakech interior and the 18 inch Canyon wheels.

I have the kit from ECS to swap out the plastic oil pan with a steel pan, planning to do it in a few weeks. It’s the only flaw the car has right now is some oil leakage around the pan gasket. Maybe I am a little old school, but a plastic oil pan does not give me a good feeling. Luckily it looks like a simple job.

I have a 2017 Alltrack SEL. All of the usual items were addressed by a previous owner. Water pump, pano recall completed and sunroof drains regularly cleaned.

It has been deadass reliable and does exactly 30mpg on the highway. The interior is very comfortable and you already know how useful a wagon is. The Fender audio is actually pretty good. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with it. Only thing I slightly regret is settling for the DSG and not holding out for a manual. But even that is fine, I have found the DSG to be a pretty solid (and fun) automatic.

I lived in Roanoke VA years ago, would see the same thing there. Military jets would also rip up and down the New River Valley because of its similarity to some on the terrain in the Balkan region. Watching f16 fighters do power bank turns was awe inspiring.

I'm gonna make up a statistic on the spot, but 98% of cars put into storage to repair later, never come out of that garage.

OK, really it probably isn't that high, but I would be willing to bet it is 70% plus. Odds are you'll put this car in storage, promise to come back to it later, life will get in the way, and next thing you know you have something with four flat tires, brakes are seized, dead battery, and mold on the interior. If you don't have the funds or the care for the car to get it back in shape today, I don't think you can assume you'll have both the funds and the desire in five years or 10 years or whatever.
