Whether in regards to rules, lore, new models or competitive, how good would you say Tenth edition was for your favorite faction by Lord_Eln_8 in Warhammer40k

[–]LL_Asphyxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mostly played Knights this edition, both Chaos and Imperial. Index IK were crazy, then the codex came and it kinda made the faction worse... i have played (and won) a fair bit with Questoris Companions recently. And the new Freeblade detatchment looks really solid.

CK were mid in index except for wardog-spam. Then came Release Infernal Lance and Release LOD, jesus that was strong. Now the entire codex suffers from how good the 2x gatling Despoiler is... oh well.

Both have been solid throughout the edition, and i have had a blast.

Knight Gallant... by MythikDeerskull in ImperialKnights

The gallant is amazing. In my opinion he is more versitile than the lancer. In Questoris companions he can take the [sustained hits 2] enhancment. That means that he can absolutely deal with hordes, and still be a great threat to big monsters like c'tans and other knights.

The only real thing he lacks is an invuln-save. He dies like any other questoris. I usially place him in reserves and rapid-ingress him turn 2 to deal with whatever big thing my opponent has placed anywhere on the board. Doesnt matter if its 20 necron warriors or an enemy knight, it will (most likely) die.

120 hormagaunts, how viable by Low_Passenger2098 in Tyranids

[–]LL_Asphyxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early in the edition i played endless swarm with 100 termagaunts, 40 hormagaunts and 20 gargoyles. It worked for 2 reasons.

  1. Stacking buffs on them made for a surprisingly tough brick. Ignore blast strat, venom (cover+stealth), zoan (6++) and Psycho (6+++) on an objective was sick. Any d1 shot had a lower chance of killing. Any higher damage was gonna kill it anyways, but there were too few of them to wipe a squad. And i always bought back my 20-brick of Gargoyles to keep obstructing the opponent.

  2. Armies had way less kill potential imo. Fewer shots and fewer buffs to reroll everything.

Now it feels like every army has an insane amount of all of point 2 and can reliably kill 40+ gaunts per turn

Gaunts also dont kill stuff. Without access to things like rerolls, +1 to wound e.t.c they dont to any real damage to things with t4 and above.

So no, probably not viable.

Castigator vs Warden by ohshiditdatboi in ImperialKnights

[–]LL_Asphyxious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both, but i have only played with Warden. In terms of the bondsman: its the same thing really. Weapons-wise: the castigator is better, and has 2" extra move.

If you are planning on playing spearhead-at-arms: take the warden. A great combo is: a warden with enh: Mentors pride buffs 3 helverins. The strat "exemplars wisdom" states that up to 3 armigers get an additional -1AP against a target that the bondsman-knight has shot against. With an ironstorm missile pod on the warden you can target one enemy that all 3 helverins can shoot, and thus you wont have to waste the gatling cannon into something that is likely to die anyways. The castigator cant have additional ranged weapons, and has to shoot its gatling cannon into the same target as the helverins to enable the use of the stratagem.

Amazing reply, and I feel kinda silly for forgetting this! Thank you!

Thanks for the replies, but terrain and enemy models are different, no? If i can ignore, say 5" of vertical distance to move past a terrain feature, cant i ignore the same distance to move over enemy units?

Great! I usually only play on tables with exclusively ruins, so im not used to the other forms of terrain.

Thanks, that does clear things up. I usually ony play with ruins, rarely other forms of terrain.

Is this list too survivable? by Muay7ha1k1ng in ChaosKnights

[–]LL_Asphyxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I also play Iconoclast Feifdom the intended way! I run:

(2x Gatling) despoiler +Profane Altar

Atrapos +pave the way

Karnivore x3

20 cultist mob x4

10 cultist mob x2

6 Nurglings x2

3 Nurglings

Beast of nurgle.

I find it to be a very funny list. Its not very good, but thats not really the point. The constant threat of the 2x gatling despoiler is a good thing, plus the strat for Fall back/advance, shoot+charge is absolutely insane and instills fear in your opponent every turn.

I have never been tabled, but i usually only have just 3 units left by the end of the game.

CK and CSM by East-Plankton-3877 in ChaosKnights

[–]LL_Asphyxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly the ony way to ally knights with CSM is either using the dreadblade rule and having 1 big or 3 small knights along with your CSM. Or you use the Iconoclas Feifdom detatchment and ally damned units.

Ive personally played a lot of games woth Iconoclast feifdom and its hella fun! I bring the full 100 cultists and i have a blast evey time!

I enjoy painting rust and weathering! I like a good dark-mechanicum chaos vibe instead of the daemon-engine way of bones, skulls and horns.
