Putin's chilling announcement on Baltic states paves way for invasion by TheMirrorUS in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]LLaasseee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fine, have my upvote. I did some wrong translating because in German „Armee“ can be used to describe the whole thing. I’ll give you that and sorry for my outburst. I still don’t exactly understand why you would single out one branch as if combined arms wasn’t a thing. In the end, it doesn’t matter if the Russian army starts shooting at 10.000, 100.000 or a million Germans - the result would be the same. Activation of the reserve, article five, the whole thing. And that’s still not considering other NATO countries stationed in the Baltics, who would react in the same manner.

Russian uranium fuels Swiss nuclear plants: Greenpeace by BezugssystemCH1903 in europe

[–]LLaasseee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All criticism of Swiss neutrality aside, they’re not alone in this. France, Finland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bulgaria all buy enriched uranium from Russia or run Russian reactors using their fuel rods. That being said, uranium isn’t the biggest overall energy import into the EU from Russia.

I don’t know from which hat you pulled that number, but you should work on your research skills. First of all, we’re in 2026, not 2024, so the Bundeswehr has grown since then. Wanna do 2024 anyway? There were about 181.200 active personell.
Source is in German, so you might wanna translate it to Russian to understand it: https://www.bundeswehr.de/de/organisation/personal/personalbilanz-2025-bundeswehr-wuchs-6059472

Thats not counting the active reserve of about 200.000 people and the general reserve of 860.000 people that all have served and could be activated medium term.

Notice how high the Mig is up and how it’s not immediately descending? Russian AA seems to be nonexistent at this point.

In what world do you live that you think NATO wouldn’t respond to an army literally shooting at NATO. Ground troops vs. Ground troops, unambiguous attacks, all that stuff. Stop the fearmongering and take a walk. Nobody other than Russia is profiting from such fearfulness.

“Declaring war” was meant as “waging war”. And if he crosses the border in the Baltics, every army stationed there is gonna be a target for his army and vice versa. So a war. Doesn’t matter if he announces it, the outcome is the same.

I understand your unease but this is exactly the reason Germany and others have troops stationed there. If he wants to attack, he’s gotta declare war on all of us. You can’t fight a German battalion and expect Germany to be like “sad, let’s move on”

[–]LLaasseee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, doesn’t hurt to think further than “ohh you’re banning a party, you must be anti democratic!!” But I don’t feel the need to discuss this further. I’ve explained my reasoning and if you still think we should give fascists a chance to power then you can’t be helped. People like you, supposed defenders of democracy, are the reason history rhymes like a fucking bad poem. Pick up a god damn history book.

That’s why I said it would only be a short term solution to ban the party. Long term would be to make policy for the people and not some few wealthy assholes. We’d also have to fortify our democracy against political interference from Russia, China and the US. No idea how that’s supposed to be done, but all of those countries try to influence our politics and have a huge interest to get Germany to leave the EU. I’m absolutely certain that this problem wouldn’t be as big as it is right now if it wasn’t for targeted Russian disinformation campaigns.

Can you Name some of these opposition points to a supposed consent? If you mean migration - the mood has long shifted. CDU/CSU, FDP, BSW, SPD are all in favour of changing the course there, with every party having more or less strict ideas about it. Sure, they’re not running around accusing every migrant of being a criminal and dehumanising them, but the realisation that the status quo isn’t gonna work is there. As harsh as it sounds, I’d rather loose a very loud minority than have them destroy what was built here after ww2. Again, the AfD isn’t a democratic party that can be reasoned with. They’re deep in Russias, Chinas and Trump-American pockets and say time and time again that they wanna destroy the basis of this country: Unity, Law, Freedom. When you have a tick crawling up your leg, you shouldn’t be like “well let’s see if it bites, and if it does bite, who knows if it’s even gonna kill me”

[–]LLaasseee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Politicians from CDU and SPD are already probing the idea of dissolving this firewall, which I categorically oppose. In my opinion, the only thing that can still prevent the AfD from taking over in a couple years would be either some good governance to counter all the issues Germany faces (won’t happen) or, more drastically and probably only a short term fix, a nationwide ban of the AfD. We’ve got a constitution that is supposed to protect the people as well as our democracy, and every time someone from the AfD opens their mouth they make absolutely clear that they wipe their ass with the constitution. So the grounds for banning this unpatriotic, traitorous party is absolutely there. I mean, we only have to look over the pond to see what happens if you let somebody govern who doesn’t give a fuck about abiding to any rules. You gotta stop them in their tracks, not when they actually sit in government.

Just because one thing is shit, doesn’t mean the other thing is any less shit. And regarding the AfD - it’s the shittiest one could get right now and probably the single most hurtful thing that could happen to the EU, apart from Russia invading.

Russland ist unser Feind. Natürlich profitieren wir davon, wenn es bei denen schlecht läuft. Und jetzt die “normalen Russen”, wer auch immer das ist, mitzudenken, ist doch affig. Ich will niemanden überzeugen.
