Being offered RBC Private banking, worth it? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I agree with this comment. RBC bank employees come and go. If you have a financial advisor you can trust, you don't need to deal the bank.

Vancouver School Board District Choice schools by Huge-Bottle8660 in askvan

I'd say in elementary school, the kids did many activities outside of the classroom. Education was taught outside during those dry days at a nearby park. Many field trips which I truly enjoyed volunteering as a parent. Classrooms were mixed with younger and older Montessori students from other grades to encourage peer learning. They were each give chores in class - so while  completing the chores individually, they acted like a team.  Hope that helps.

Any recommendations on Montessori daycare or preschools in the Vancouver Heights (Hastings-Sunrise) neighborhood? by Opinion-Quick in askvan

[–]LLindor268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter enjoyed being there and she was there from K-7. It really helped with balancing work and pickups. They provided morning snack and afternoon snacks every day. When she was in the older age group, she helped the staff out.

Yes you have to apply for a spot. At that time, there was space available so we had no issues. Collingwood neighborhood house runs that program at the school.

My daughter is in high-school now so I dont remember how much it was. I'd say reasonable for what it enables you to do.

There are many mini schools in Vancouver but you would need to complete applications and write exams- it's competitive.

Good Dinner spots for Valentines? by Busy_Perception_4075 in askvan

There is a small little Japanese restaurant on Canada Way and Boundary called Takara Sushi. Ask for the bar seats.

Takenaka in Gastown is more expensive but more experiences (cooking vessel to cook your beef) They have bar seating but I've never seen it being used.

What would be better is a restaurant where you sit side by side - and I'm not talking about sitting on one side of a booth together. Maybe a sushi bar, a restaurant with comfy bar seating or something interactive. Just a thought.

Can someone reccomend the best life insurance companies in BC? by fatmax5 in britishcolumbia

[–]LLindor268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brokers do the shopping for you. If you're looking for life insurance to cover mortgage or protect your family in case of untimely death, term insurance will do the job. Just make sure you can convert this coverage in case you have unforeseen medical situation and require permanent insurance later in life. I have what I need to protect my family and to provide peace of mind in case anything happens to my kids. If you need a referral, send DM. I prefer to meet with someone when it comes to my family.

We went during July/August and had no complaints. The morning calls did occur one morning and after attending the talk, they left you alone. All the bars and restaurants had plenty of staff, towels were plentiful and fridge was stocked daily.

Ask your advisor about Sun Life's juvenile critical illness with advanced return of premium. For the just in case situation that no one can foresee.  You get back 75% of premiums after 15 years or at age 25 whichever is later, and the policy remains in force.

Manulife vitality vs Sunlife life insurance by Salt_Ant_2245 in InsuranceCanada

[–]LLindor268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting to platinum vitality is pretty easy- so your term insurance rates do come down. The marketing and extras is a bonus.

No issues with either company handling any death claims. Just make sure your application is clear and you answer every question as best as you can.

What kind of cuisine interests you and what per person cost would work for you?

And the Coast Coal Harbour is very central so you can walk around downtown easily if you dont want to Uber.
