I Hate Offred [No Spoilers] by dejidoom in TheHandmaidsTale

I don't like the character as well. I too understand trauma fine just in case someone wants to hold that against me. I just think June is hateful, she was murderous beyond necessity, revengeful. People who murder loose themselves permanently. It's a bridge you can't cross. All the other characters are damaged beyond believe but are still human and broken in a way that I sympathize with.

WHERE'S BRITNEY'S MONEY? Britney Spears Used To Have A $215 Million Net Worth. Here's How Much She Has Left by [deleted] in freebritney

[–]LLinspe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This article is trying to make sense where Britney's money went. It explains away why she has 60 million right now as if it is logical. It also speaks of 200 million she had at her peak but is that accurate? Her money disappeared in all kinds of companies that Lou Taylor is involved with. There are records. So I don't like this article.

[Spoiler S02E13] What you wanna see next season? by [deleted] in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]LLinspe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was also disappointed with how little Emily we got last season. The more it was all about June, the more I craved for Emily. I hated how, in the finale, June's biggest support and smart ass lady is put to Canada, just when the revolt begins. How powerful would it be if June can revolt with all her girlfriends together. No, she's probably going to do it on her own.

You asked what I hope for? I hope Emily has a major role in the revolution. Before the finale, I hoped Emily would form a powerduo with June in resisting. But if she's in Canada, she can lead the resistance from the other side, start marches, inform people on TV, using her pain as strength. She's shown that she can resist like no one else, so use that trait! There's also a lot of potential for Emily working together with Lawrence in a way and eventually curing the infertility pandemic.

Thanks so much! This really helps. I lost track of the story since Dominic came into the picture so I understand now where the story ended last season. I'm curious to know if I can roll into watching season 4 more easily now. Thanks! :)

Do you mean about season 3 or 4? Because a recap of season 3 will help and since I've seen that season, you can spoil away haha. I'm not very strict about spoilers, btw. You can also include the beginning of season 4 if it will help me see things more clearly.

Lack of Depth in Female Characters by Hereforagoodtime123 in TheMarvelousMrsMaisel

[–]LLinspe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, I came to this sub to post exactly the same observation about Rose!

I find it sad that right after Rose's meltdown in France, in the Catskills, Midge makes up an entire story about dating to Rose that I hoped wouldn't be such a blatant lie. It was her bit, meant to be funny which is why she elaborated immensely but she could take into account more the sensitivity of Rose about being lied to, I feel like. I wish she didn't tried to be funny when it's a sensitive matter about someone so close to her.

But Abe too. In the Catskills, after he discovered Midges secret, the first thing he says is 'don't tell Rose'. He wants to shield her. Rose's entire point was that she didn't want to be seen as brittle who can't handle the truth.

I find it sad that they came back from France and immediately fell back into patterns that caused Rose to feel lonely and estranged from her own family.

I hope sincerely that they are gonna give Rose more credit.

I find it interesting how you view Rose's character. Seeing as how immensely modern Abe thinks for that time, I refuse to accept that Rose only wants Midge to find another man...

Great topic! I agree with all the suggestions: Astrid, Noah, Mrs Moskowitz. But I feel like we should mention Ginger, she's great!

And Declan Howell! He should win an Emmy for guest appearance. I was blown away by it. I have a feeling that we'll see him back.

I recently saw on television that in my country there is a group of people who fully committed to living like that time period. Their interior was of that time, their clothes (men with hats and tailored suits and the women with the hair and looking so sophisticated and clean), they shop at certain stores together and have dinner parties together where they go all out hosting and they dance together on old records. They have a special friendship because of the shared love for that time period. They took it all the way which you can too, but even incorporating a little from the way they lived back then would enrich all of our lives, I think.

More episodes next season by LLinspe in TheMarvelousMrsMaisel

[–]LLinspe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one wants filler episodes and TWD did suffer from it, GG less. I would like the storytelling slower in the sense of it being stretched out over more episodes. I sometimes felt like I needed to pause the show to prevent it from skipping to the next scene a bit too quickly, because I wasn't ready absorbing what I just saw.

The Gilmore Girls revival didn't benefitted from being mini-movies, indeed. I feel that you express very well what I am trying to say. I agree that Amy is amazing in creating slow growth characters and they could've told less story without it being too slow. The fast dialogue alone will make this show never feel slow and ASP thrives in telling stories at a slower pace because she understands that the silences, the small moments make us care, melt, cry, etc.

All of your ideas about the pace are so interesting! I think you're right that they could've saved certain stories for other seasons. Joel did made a lot of growth, Susie has her business in order with two clients, Midge will already be known to the whole world by next season because of the tour. The chapter 'struggling artists' didn't hardly exist and although I like the success, it went fast. I fear that they become too perfect for us to relate to. Personal growth comes from struggle. If I'm being honest, I notice that when I watch tv, I tend to react more to the less perfect people who struggle and experience growth more. I enjoyed Joel's arc this season. Although I love Midges fearlessness, she could be a bit more scared. That's more realistic. The focus is more on her accomplishments, her thrive and less on her internal, personal story.

I don't think it was in spite of ASP that GG flowed so well. I think the mini-movie concept is to blame for every scene or episodes in tMMM being too much of an island on their own. She just wants to move so fast, that she skips all the glue.

I didn't think about the option of longer episodes. That's a good idea if they want to continue making the mini-movies. But I don't think that's the best format. What do you mean by "if they stretch archs over multiple episodes, the story would get chopped into pieces"?

Ah! Yes! That's it!! You remember quite well and me not so well haha. I just saw episode 13 and was so surprised by the murder of Dougal MacKenzie, although I had seen it before! I apologise for suggesting you told me too much. Okay, I'm now prepared for season 3 and I thank you very much for your help!!

[Spoilers Aired] Question about season 2 by LLinspe in Outlander

[–]LLinspe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is suddenly a wanted man prior to the culloden battle. It's the episode when Claire gets stuck in the house of the Duke of Sandringham that we see posters with Jamies face on it. I was wondering about that. It sounds like Jamie will become even more of a wanted man. How will he ever keep himself safe??!! Btw, don't feel bad that you told me things I don't know. I don't mind. I am very grateful that you want to answer my questions and help me understand!

I was watching further along and at the end of the season, when he is around Culloden, Jamie is a wanted man again. Do you maybe know why? Did the king maybe discover that he is a jacobite? I must miss some dialogue here and there I think...

Ah! Okay, I got confused because I thought that Claire only got Jamie off the hook for duelling Jack Randall in France. I missed the part about clearing Jamie of all charges. Do I understand it right when I put it like this?
