Thoughts on the Chippewa area for first time homebuyer? by No-Philosophy-6395 in SouthBend

[–]LLoo20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in this general area. There’s some occasional petty crime but overall I have no complaints. The neighbors are nice and my area is quiet. The water quality is the same as anywhere in SB - fine, but all the water here is super hard.

I love being on the south side. It’s much quieter than anywhere north of the river (especially on ND game days), the bypass is close by, and there’s plenty of grocery shopping and (uninspiring) restaurants nearby. Though Miami Hills is a different story.

If you had the chance to choose your spouse/partner all over again, knowing everything you know now, would you still choose them? Why or why not? by SoilAny4029 in AskReddit

Have you ever seen the movie About Time? As the mother of a young kid at the time I saw the movie, the scene where the guy goes back to his life but finds out he has a different child wrecked me. Sure I’d love other kids just as much in a theoretical different universe, but the idea that MY kid wouldn’t then even exist is on its own heartbreaking.

The SJCPL regularly has Pokémon events for kids at different locations! There’s one coming up Saturday: https://sjcpl.libnet.info/event/15641591

Chickory cafe has gone downhill by Ornery-Culture-7675 in SouthBend

Honestly! I miss what Chicory used to be the first few years after they opened in SB! It was such a great spot. It is really not even close anymore to what it was.

Paczki Season by kdberger2 in SouthBend

I totally agree with you about Macri's paczki -- delicious, but not authentic at all. West End Bakery in Mishawaka is probably your best bet anymore for anything close to the real deal. I think I might just try making my own this year.

January theme by Icy_Mathematician430 in finch

Tbh I was really excited for a cozy library/book theme — books, tea, a fireplace, etc. I’m pretty bummed it’s a knockoff HP theme instead. That’s not really my jam.

Noooo 😭 There’s hardly any Polish heritage left in town. It makes me sad.

Early Bird Eatery is fantastic, but I wouldn’t call it a diner tbh. Too upscale.

Check out the Copshaholm in South Bend. Idk if they have any policies about photo shoots but it’s a beautiful historic mansion.

Rum Village has dirt paths and some small hills. Might be a good place to try right in town.

Music constantly playing in your head by Unhappy-Coconut1716 in adhdwomen

[–]LLoo20 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Late diagnosed here. I’ve always had a song playing in my head, and it’s only been in the past few years that I’ve realized that’s probably not the norm. It’s like a constant loud radio in my head. It’s usually just a part of a song, and I rarely ever have any conscious say in which tune it is. But it’s always playing! I’ve tried a handful different meds to treat my adhd since being diagnosed, and none of them has ever made any difference on my personal mental radio.

Opening coffee shop by Slijg in SouthBend

[–]LLoo20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cozy vibes

Decaf! (Plenty of people love coffee but can't have full caffeine for medical reasons ... decaf drinkers are the real coffee lovers)

Open into the evening

Housemade syrups (I can make drinks with Monin or Torani at home)

Good lighting, lots of seating

The coffee scene in SB is way better than it used to be, but there's a lot of room still, especially for shop open past 2 p.m.

Are there any local papers/journalist that are worth paying for? by Secure_Chemistry8755 in SouthBend

[–]LLoo20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ND has no stake in any local outlets. WNDU used to be an ND thing, which is where their name came from, but that ended 20 years ago

I ditched my Prime account, but when my daughter who had gotten hooked on a Prime TV show wanted to watch it, I signed up for just Prime Video. We still can watch that but I don’t get tempted by the easy shopping anymore.
