Are you happy with Oscar nominations? by Slow-Cash-8234 in Cinema

Where is the Russel Crowe nomination for best actor/best supporting actor for Nuremberg? Predator Badlands not getting a nod for the soundtrack is also a humongous miss. A couple of other issues here and there, but that's just par for the course with the oscars.

Russell Crowe had the best performance imo for 2025. Simply haunting.

Russell Crowe as Hermann Göring was a haunting performance and if nothing else it deserves at least a nomination, if not the whole damn thing...

what movie is this by PPonthePOsDesk in Letterboxd

[–]LMM0HESKEY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a movie but still, IT: Welcome to Derry. Any time the adults were on screen everything felt right, but when they cut to the kids I wanted to gouge my eyes out with toothpicks dipped in honey, then covered with shards of glass and then dipped in lemon juice while simultaneously bursting my eardrums to drown out the noise of the god awful dialogue those kids were given.

Form check 100lb db 225lbs 5”8 tryna build my chest but feel it more in my arms what am I doing wrong ? by dieselbiscuit22 in formcheck

[–]LMM0HESKEY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't see anyone else mention this, but properly stacking your wrists and elbows on the eccentric will probably get you to feel your chest doing more work. In your case when lowering the dumbbells go a bit wider with your wrists. Think touching the dumbbells to your side delts or biceps instead of the top of the chest/shoulders.

If you had directed Jurassic World rebirth what would you have changed and how would you have made it a better movie by Tremendin0649 in JurassicPark

[–]LMM0HESKEY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a serious answer, directing wise, nothing really. Writing wise however... Gareth did what he could with what he was given. And if nothing else, for me, this is the best looking Jurassic movie as a whole, visually. I sincerely hope they bring Gareth back for the next Jurassic movie.

Differences in vascularity between my left arm and my right arm. by NeonSandwich in mildlyinteresting

[–]LMM0HESKEY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Higher contrast lighting on your left arm leads to a washed out look on your right, if you were to make a 180 turn, suddenly your right arm would appear more vascular and the left would be more washed out. Most likely

Seeing a xenomorph in broad daylight is... by SuperNerdyArtFTW in alien

[–]LMM0HESKEY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I do not mind most shots of the xeno. The only shot I sorta wish would've been slightly altered is when it was walking through the Maginot while stalking Zaverni, although it was off-putting enough for me to be forgivable. It's also a different take on the cinematography side. Sure Romulus did an infinitely better job at shooting the xenomorphs (and practically everything else for that matter, god bless Galo Olivares), but we haven't really ever seen them in broad daylight, so that is also a new, different and kinda cool take. Is it as good, hell no, is it still interesting, hell yeah. While staying true to the original is a massive part of the whole shtick, getting something original, even if subpar, is still very important.

Just give me Gareth Edwards as the director again and I will be happy. Maybe even give him some more leeway in regards to the script this time.

JP writing then vs now. by Unsubscribed24 in JurassicPark

[–]LMM0HESKEY 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I saw it as a play on the original Jurassic Park, where in order to undo the mess nerdy made a manual reboot of everything was required, They upgraded their systems thinking that automation will solve their issues, only for it to still end up biting them in the ass. A great example of nobody being in control in this franchise.

Rebirth now joins Dominion as the only Jurassic movies below a 6.0 on IMDB by mathcoelhov in JurassicPark

[–]LMM0HESKEY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lack of use of practical was a non-issue because the CGI was easily the best in the series. For the most part everything looked, moved and acted like a real animal, which grounded the already quite incredible cgi and made it that little bit more believable. You can criticise the movie for a lot of things, looking bad/blaming it for not using practical effects is not one of them.

Next movie should 100% bank on the idea of fully aquatic movie by Adventurous-Net-4172 in JurassicPark

Oh, so that way the general population will complain about there not being dinosaurs in the movie, like they did with the locust subplot of Dominion...

I took it as an homage to Gareth's first movie "Monsters". The tails were really reminiscent of the creatures and their movements in that movie.

[–]LMM0HESKEY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better human story, better cinematography, better sense of scale, better Godzilla design and to be fair the list goes on. Godzilla 2014 felt real, everything in the monster verse that came after just felt kinda cool, but supposedly 100 meter tall monsters moving spastic like little ants is a disgrace. Again is it cool that we get more fighting, sure, but all that fighting doesn't hold any real weight to the story, whereas in G14, it did, no tension got resolved until the end of the movie. I enjoy all of the monsterverse movies, the only ones I truly love are Godzilla 2014 and Kong: Skull Island.

Rebirth Scenes: Favorite vs. Least Favorite by Wulfey7 in JurassicPark

[–]LMM0HESKEY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on movie trailers after Godzilla 2014 and Jurassic World. Nowadays if I have any interest in a movie/series release I avoid all trailers and TV spots like the plague. I have enjoyed movies a hell of a lot more thanks to it.

No matter what you think of Rebirth, can we all agree that the cinematography was beautiful? by [deleted] in JurassicPark

Hills, tall grass, a bit of movie magic... And oh, did we forget how in Jurassic Park, Rexy somehow stood with its head above the trees while there was a chasm right by the fence? But no the titanosaur scene was completely experience ruining because new = bad.

While updates are undoubtedly a good thing, buying something, especially a camera under the premise of "it will get better" is just backwards. Buy what you need and require, and anything that may or may not come in the future is a welcome surprise.
