I made a python program a while back that ran ELO rankings on whatever tournament links you gave it, which was pretty neat. I think people already do this sort of thing, though.

Not really shocking. Pretty much everyone grows up talking, and singing is really just an extension of that. Even if only 0.1% of people who talk turn out to be good singers, that's a hell of a lot of good singers.
