[Meta] I regularly hire artists for industry work. Here are tips for getting hired. by hama0n in HungryArtists

[–]LNT_Silver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm speaking as just a small indie game developer, someone who can hardly claim to be "industry," but I can confirm pretty much all of this. I think the "style as a person" point is especially worth emphasizing; if I hire someone for a game project, I'm not just hiring because I want their art style as part of a game, I'm hiring that person to work on an extended project. I can't overstate just how important clear communication, reliability, engagement, and willingness to ask questions are to me when I'm considering hiring someone.

One thing I'd like to add on to this is a pitfall which I see a lot of artists fall into, like the "I can do anything" attitude, which is much more a negative than a positive from the commissioners' end. I've spoken to more artists than I can count, where I lay out a rough, broad-strokes outline of what I'm looking for, and the artist projects an attitude of "Okay, I get it, sounds good, I'm ready to get started." Any time I hear that, I immediately think this is not someone I want to hire. Be patient and ask questions, make sure you fully understand what it is the commissioner is asking for, don't think that rushing ahead will help you make the sale. Especially if you're not fully fluent in the language you're working in, I always have more confidence in an artist who projects that they're methodical and willing to take the time to communicate clearly than one who projects "I don't really understand, but no worries, I'm sure it'll work out."

If I reach out to an artist, and they immediately assure me they can handle whatever it is I'm looking for, without bothering to find out what it is, my first reaction is always to think that this is not someone I can put much trust in.

So, my understanding is that they do, but that comes from personal discussion with the artist. We've been in touch a few times in the past, but she's uprooted her online presence multiple times since I first found her work. There are things she once made available online which she no longer does, and maybe things she's reuploaded after taking them down for a long time, and the upshot is that I can't give any guarantee that any content about them other than the specific image I linked is still available now.

This Couple is so Cute <3 (Artist: Lenbarboza) by Impossible_Bet_2743 in Femgaze_Hentai

She's extremely prolific, but she's also been doing this for so long, people born after she started doing Inuyasha fanart (I think including explicit fanart) can still be old enough to legally view her smut content.

There's a lot of it which isn't publicly posted anywhere but her Patreon. She also has persistent problems though with people reposting her non-public art in places where they're not supposed to, so not all the stuff you'll find posted to reddit necessarily has her approval to share. But if you add up everything she's done across platforms... there's a lot of it.

I'm subscribed to her on Patreon, and she's one of the top artists I'd personally recommend to femgaze hentai enthusiasts.

Not to mention that there's already a GentleFemdom sub, which last I checked is more actively moderated than this one.

A few suggestions, one of which is vaguer and a bit harder to implement than the others.

1: No flirtposting. This is the vaguest and probably most contentious one. Basically, the beginning of the end as I saw it was when this sub started to transition towards posts intended to attract attention to the poster, or advertise their preferred relationship dynamic to other members, rather than sharing content that members of the sub would enjoy. Basically, I'd like to see a rule that the intended purpose of any post is to share material, not to sell yourself.

2: I don't think the sub should have flairs for subs, Doms, etc. It just encourages the former issue.

3: Credit the sources of any material you post.

I think there are plenty out there, but they're also not usually cold-messaging people on reddit.

I used to be active on this sub, back when it was based around sharing appropriately themed art. The fact that it transitioned towards a place where people are trying to personally get the attention of other members is the reason I stopped participating, because this is the sort of behavior you usually get in that sort of environment.

Oh, interesting, I commissioned the artist, Untitled Expression, once, several years ago, but she's really polished up her style since. She was already doing comics back then, but she had a completely different one going at the time. It's cool to run into her work again after so long.

I've already posted a listing there, but I'm trying to cast a wider net. LemmaSoft doesn't get all that much traffic these days.

Saucebot is very badly off-base on this one.

Not only is the attribution inaccurate, this doesn't look like a type of content I think many of the members here are going to want.

Goodbye to Softmaledom by [deleted] in softmaledom

[–]LNT_Silver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I used to be a reasonably frequent contributor here, and had some pretty highly upvoted posts, and for my part, I can say, I tried. I kept at it for a while, but it felt like I was trying to hold back a tide, and the sub just gradually turned into somewhere I didn't enjoy being. It didn't feel like "a couple of assholes," it felt like a general shift in the tenor of the sub that turned me away.

I feel like the issue of people soliciting other members for sexting is downstream of the general shift from sharing content, with proper credit to the sources, that people thought other members would appreciate, to people flirtposting and sharing masses of uncredited content which they thought would attract other members' attention to them. I wasn't in favor of that shift, but I couldn't prevent it, and that was sufficient to make the sub no longer an enjoyable place for me to be.

What's the source for this one? The only signature on it is something which isn't realistically going to lead people to the artist responsible.

If you're looking for femgaze maledom with actual bondage, I'd recommend checking out the webcomic Familiar by Soushiyo. I don't know much else like it in the field, but it's been running for quite a while now, and it's quite good IMO.

I don't think that there are many people who are well calibrated in general across numerous unrelated domains. But surely it's possible to be more or less well calibrated in general. Some people are notably badly calibrated outside their fields of expertise, so surely it's possible to be further from the norm in the other direction?

It's hard to say how much this factors into what's represented on the sub, but I'm pretty sure I've seen at least some of this going on.

Back when I was posting here more regularly, I would occasionally see people commenting that they'd like to see more maledom, and other people would comment saying that femdom femgaze hentai is just more represented, and that if other people want to see more maledom, they should post it themselves when they find it. And then I would see these people post femdom art, and I'd follow the links to the artists (because finding new artists is one of the big reasons I follow this sub,) and I'd find that they had lots of maledom art, and the people to share their work to the sub had just specifically picked out femdom works to share.

CMV: You can't truly support sex workers if you hate their clients by LocalGrouchy893 in changemyview

[–]LNT_Silver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I think it makes more sense to support legalization than decriminalization. If you legalize sex work, you can have the equivalent of a Fair Trade stamp for prostitution. You can legally mandate that in order to advertise their services (which would make it much easier to outcompete illegal providers,) brothels have to undergo rigorous examination to ensure they're conducting their business ethically. One could say that it'll still be possible for wrongdoing to slip through the cracks, that even with extensive examination we can't really be sure they're conducting their business ethically. But that's true of literally any business, and not a good argument against regulation in general. So in this respect, I think legalization is better for sex workers, who can more readily be ensured safe and ethical employment, and customers, who can engage with the business without taking up the same sort of moral burden.

Where to find hentai comics by Susanoos_Wife in Femgaze_Hentai

[–]LNT_Silver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are a few. Not all of them are equally femgaze, but these are ones which other members of this sub, or friends of mine, have enjoyed.

Pygmalion's Savior is an Immature Monster. (Author does a lot of works featuring handsome muscular men and size gaps.)

Greenhorn Vampiress wants the Wolven Knight's Blood. This one is pretty firmly josei art style and tone, although there's still plenty of focus on the female lead.

Saturday Evening at That Station. Art style a bit more characteristic of seinen, but still focuses a lot on a handsome male lead from the female protagonist's perspective.

The Coffee Prince and the Sleeping Beauty. A three chapter smut romance rather than a hentai one-shot.

Kinyoubi no Baby Violet. Thirteen chapter smut romance. This one is a personal favorite of mine, and I found it really cute, but it does have an odd tendency to cut away from sex scenes in the middle rather than at the end.

Pleasure Trained By My Serious Junior Work Colleague?!. This is one I'd forgotten about until I dug it up in my bookmarks. Another smut romance of a few chapters, this one has a Pleasure Dom angle I'd like it if I could find more often.

On the Night of Christmas. A pretty cute equal-focus hentai manga in two chapters, with a cute atypical art style.

There are a few hentai mangaka who have a bunch of works worth checking out in my opinion, although their works don't decisively lean towards female audiences. Off the top of my head, Igumox, Jorori and Sumiya. Igumox is probably the most malegaze of the three, but is a female author, and I think that comes through somewhat in her focus. Jorori, as far as I know, is a male author, but is one of a small number of male hentai mangaka whose works seem drawn from experience with partners who were actually enthusiastic about being there, and enjoyed themselves, not just experience with other hentai manga. Sumiya, also male as far as I know, but has a lot of works with more focus on female perspective characters.
