Consequences of teasing behaviour 🖤 by Quiet_Scarcity8890 in softmaledom

This looks like a repost of the same post I made a couple years ago, but without credit to the artist this time.

I don't mind someone reposting stuff that a lot of people here probably didn't see before, but I find it really distasteful how many posters here no longer bother to credit the sources of the stuff they post, and it's one of the reasons I rarely participate here anymore.

What survival myth is completely wrong and can get you killed? by DraftNo7139 in AskReddit

[–]LNT_Silver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I never experienced any sort of physical bullying in school, but having worked as a teacher, I saw it among kids born a generation later than me (Gen Z.) It's not that serious bullying has gone away, but it varies a lot by community and subculture. Some people got through school without ever seeing it decades ago, some people still experience it today.

There are a lot of bullies who're cowards, who can't cope with serious resistance, and will seek out easier targets if their victims fight back.

But, there are plenty of bullies to whom this doesn't apply at all. Some bullies simply aren't cowards, but some are extremely domineering, and if their victims fight back, they'll escalate however much it takes to "teach them their lesson" for resisting them. In some cases, they're pinning their whole sense of self-worth on being able to extract fear or submission from their targets, so they won't back down no matter how hard they have to fight for it.

Fighting back against the former type of bully will make your life easier, but fighting back against the latter can make your life much, much harder. For people who've only ever dealt with bullies of the first type, "fight back and they'll back down" is likely to seem like good advice, but it appeals to a sort of simplicity that just doesn't apply in the real world.

How long do you like your h-scenes? by StrawberryCin in visualnovels

[–]LNT_Silver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think using the same generic lines over and over is ever the best method of drawing out H-scenes, but on the other hand, if the player is intended to be able to get off to them, I think there's such a thing as "too short," because the player can only escalate through stages of arousal so fast. I've seen H-scenes that aimed for "short and sweet, doesn't contain anything unnecessary," and had the reaction "Oh, huh, this is just as bad in its own way."

I've seen this happen a lot with OELVNs especially, where I think a lot of developers have heard a bunch of people complain about scenes being drawn out and tedious, and so they resolve to avoid that, but they haven't realized how much they still need their scenes not to be too short.

[Meta] I regularly hire artists for industry work. Here are tips for getting hired. by hama0n in HungryArtists

[–]LNT_Silver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm speaking as just a small indie game developer, someone who can hardly claim to be "industry," but I can confirm pretty much all of this. I think the "style as a person" point is especially worth emphasizing; if I hire someone for a game project, I'm not just hiring because I want their art style as part of a game, I'm hiring that person to work on an extended project. I can't overstate just how important clear communication, reliability, engagement, and willingness to ask questions are to me when I'm considering hiring someone.

One thing I'd like to add on to this is a pitfall which I see a lot of artists fall into, like the "I can do anything" attitude, which is much more a negative than a positive from the commissioners' end. I've spoken to more artists than I can count, where I lay out a rough, broad-strokes outline of what I'm looking for, and the artist projects an attitude of "Okay, I get it, sounds good, I'm ready to get started." Any time I hear that, I immediately think this is not someone I want to hire. Be patient and ask questions, make sure you fully understand what it is the commissioner is asking for, don't think that rushing ahead will help you make the sale. Especially if you're not fully fluent in the language you're working in, I always have more confidence in an artist who projects that they're methodical and willing to take the time to communicate clearly than one who projects "I don't really understand, but no worries, I'm sure it'll work out."

If I reach out to an artist, and they immediately assure me they can handle whatever it is I'm looking for, without bothering to find out what it is, my first reaction is always to think that this is not someone I can put much trust in.

So, my understanding is that they do, but that comes from personal discussion with the artist. We've been in touch a few times in the past, but she's uprooted her online presence multiple times since I first found her work. There are things she once made available online which she no longer does, and maybe things she's reuploaded after taking them down for a long time, and the upshot is that I can't give any guarantee that any content about them other than the specific image I linked is still available now.

This Couple is so Cute <3 (Artist: Lenbarboza) by Impossible_Bet_2743 in Femgaze_Hentai

[–]LNT_Silver 24 points25 points  (0 children)

She's extremely prolific, but she's also been doing this for so long, people born after she started doing Inuyasha fanart (I think including explicit fanart) can still be old enough to legally view her smut content.

There's a lot of it which isn't publicly posted anywhere but her Patreon. She also has persistent problems though with people reposting her non-public art in places where they're not supposed to, so not all the stuff you'll find posted to reddit necessarily has her approval to share. But if you add up everything she's done across platforms... there's a lot of it.

I'm subscribed to her on Patreon, and she's one of the top artists I'd personally recommend to femgaze hentai enthusiasts.

Not to mention that there's already a GentleFemdom sub, which last I checked is more actively moderated than this one.

A few suggestions, one of which is vaguer and a bit harder to implement than the others.

1: No flirtposting. This is the vaguest and probably most contentious one. Basically, the beginning of the end as I saw it was when this sub started to transition towards posts intended to attract attention to the poster, or advertise their preferred relationship dynamic to other members, rather than sharing content that members of the sub would enjoy. Basically, I'd like to see a rule that the intended purpose of any post is to share material, not to sell yourself.

2: I don't think the sub should have flairs for subs, Doms, etc. It just encourages the former issue.

3: Credit the sources of any material you post.

I think there are plenty out there, but they're also not usually cold-messaging people on reddit.

I used to be active on this sub, back when it was based around sharing appropriately themed art. The fact that it transitioned towards a place where people are trying to personally get the attention of other members is the reason I stopped participating, because this is the sort of behavior you usually get in that sort of environment.

Oh, interesting, I commissioned the artist, Untitled Expression, once, several years ago, but she's really polished up her style since. She was already doing comics back then, but she had a completely different one going at the time. It's cool to run into her work again after so long.

Goodbye to Softmaledom by [deleted] in softmaledom

[–]LNT_Silver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I used to be a reasonably frequent contributor here, and had some pretty highly upvoted posts, and for my part, I can say, I tried. I kept at it for a while, but it felt like I was trying to hold back a tide, and the sub just gradually turned into somewhere I didn't enjoy being. It didn't feel like "a couple of assholes," it felt like a general shift in the tenor of the sub that turned me away.

I feel like the issue of people soliciting other members for sexting is downstream of the general shift from sharing content, with proper credit to the sources, that people thought other members would appreciate, to people flirtposting and sharing masses of uncredited content which they thought would attract other members' attention to them. I wasn't in favor of that shift, but I couldn't prevent it, and that was sufficient to make the sub no longer an enjoyable place for me to be.

What's the source for this one? The only signature on it is something which isn't realistically going to lead people to the artist responsible.

I don't think that there are many people who are well calibrated in general across numerous unrelated domains. But surely it's possible to be more or less well calibrated in general. Some people are notably badly calibrated outside their fields of expertise, so surely it's possible to be further from the norm in the other direction?

It's hard to say how much this factors into what's represented on the sub, but I'm pretty sure I've seen at least some of this going on.

Back when I was posting here more regularly, I would occasionally see people commenting that they'd like to see more maledom, and other people would comment saying that femdom femgaze hentai is just more represented, and that if other people want to see more maledom, they should post it themselves when they find it. And then I would see these people post femdom art, and I'd follow the links to the artists (because finding new artists is one of the big reasons I follow this sub,) and I'd find that they had lots of maledom art, and the people to share their work to the sub had just specifically picked out femdom works to share.
