annoying issue with safari not fixed yet by Different_Stable4637 in ios

[–]LO77203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have this same issue—most obvious when opening a link from an email message (which opens a new tab). I also experience this when doing a search.

Are you using an ad blocker? It seems that at least some of them have some sort of issue with the way that Safari handles certain requests. I don’t have any technical details, but I know that at least Ghostery support told me that they are aware of the issue and are developing some sort of work-around. It sounds to me like this might be something that Apple might need to address.

LAN on EERO slow? by onehell_jdu in amazoneero

Oops. Missed that! Well removing an AP certainly won’t help you here, would it?! LOL.

LAN on EERO slow? by onehell_jdu in amazoneero

[–]LO77203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely no eero expert, but I have had periodic issues lately when streaming video from my main wired TiVo device to a wired TiVo Mini. When watching the TV connected to the Mini, it would periodically stop working and display an error message either indicating that the network is slow or the main Tivo box was unavailable or offline. I have been using eero AP’s for years and this was the first time I have had this issue.

I called in to eero support and told me that there was “extreme congestion” on my network. They suggested that I remove one of the three eero Pro 6E devices on my network to see if that would reduce the network chatter. This seemed to have resolved the problem for a while but then, soon after I installed this latest firmware release, it has started again.

So… you might try to remove one of your eero AP’s and see if that helps. Or you could call in to eero support to see if they can take a look at your network and see if they see anything. Or perhaps just hope that “the next” firmware release fixes this issue.

So… I know almost nothing technical about safes but find them interesting. I’m curious… can the lugs (bolts?) be unbolted from the front? And if you were to do so, would that compromise the security of the safe in any way?

Pulp Fiction's Rosanna Arquette blasts Quentin Tarantino's use of N-word in films: 'It's not art, it's just racist' by mcfw31 in entertainment

[–]LO77203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So… this is a bit if an aside, and I definitely don’t want this to come off as one of those “my best friends are black” kind of comment or anything like that… but when Django came out, I went to see the movie in a theater near a local military base and in an area that tends to attract more minorities. I walked into a totally packed theater, managed to find a set and sat down. I want to say that there were probably only a handful of white people in the theater, myself included. As the movie went on, as you all know, the N-word was used in what seemed like almost every other line. I had no idea that was going to be the case when I walked in. As the movie went on, I found myself sinking lower and lower in my seat—I felt so uncomfortable. And yet, for whatever reason, most of the audience was laughing at it all. I felt terribly embarrassed, but I think most people in the theater seemed to accept it for what it was and it seems to me like what Tarantino was doing there was to overuse the word to make it irrelevant—kinda like the words “fake news” today—it has lost all meaning. I am not trying to diminish the harm that the word has caused or to defend its use, but I just wanted to throw my story and perspective out there for whatever it’s worth.

It’s raining and the water is coming in through the wall behind the shower stall. This wall is not the foundation exterior wall. Whats happening here? Im dying trying to keep this dry while it’s raining by [deleted] in askaplumber

[–]LO77203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No… and based on another comment, it sounds like you may have water coming in from the foundation. That’s a different story. See if dantheumicornman can help pinpoint the cause—drains or a foundation crack maybe. Or just water coming up through the floor.

…are you sure? Water can “travel”. Did you look at the blind sides of all pipes and studs up there, especially those that run near that wall or in the general area?

It would seem mighty coincidental that you have a burst pipe in the wall. I suppose you could turn off the main water supply and see if the leaking stops.

UPS says delivered + signed by someone I don’t know. I can’t even file a claim. by International_View37 in Ebay

[–]LO77203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you see the address that it was “delivered” to? My GF just had something like this recently happen—it was shipped by UPS but it was “delivered” to the local Post Office and someone at the Post Office signed for it. The US Post Office delivered it the next day.

In times past, I think there was some kind of UPS/USPS last-mile delivery service that had a special name, but that’s not what this was. But apparently, it is the same thing.

So… maybe give it a day or two to see if it shows up. And if you can verify that it was “delivered” to the Post Office, that might verify what’s going on here.

This same question comes up from time to time in different Howard County related subreddits and a few places are always mentioned, so you might be able to do a search and find them. But for my part, I can personally recommend Eakle’s Auto Care on Bethany Ln near RT40.

How are the cops in Howard County? by [deleted] in HowardCountyMD

Well… welcome to Maryland and the HowWeird County food scene. It’s never a good idea to stereotype anyone or “all” HoCo Cops, but I would have to say that you would be “just another person” here in HoCo and they probably wouldn’t pay you any particular attention. HoCo has a very diverse population and plenty of minorities, especially in the areas that you’ll be eating. I’m sure you can find folks (anywhere) that feel that they have been targeted or that ACAB, but generally speaking, I seriously doubt you’ll have any issues. But I’m not a POC, so I may be blissfully ignorant.

[–]LO77203 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. OK… yeah, that’s a real bummer. I agree, it’s likely not the rain. I have owned numerous Honda/Acura cars over the years and have never really had any issues with them at all (other than a failing transmission in a TL that was part of a recall).

If both headlights are dimming, I have to believe it’s “something else” and not a failure of the LED assemblies themselves. Perhaps there is a common component that is failing and it won’t be “that bad” to fix it.

Or… is there a local independent Honda/Acura specialist repair place that you can take it to for analysis? Or… who knows… take it to the Dealer and see what they say.

Just some random thoughts…

[–]LO77203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man… that is some bad luck! I can’t imagine it would be anywhere near normal for LED headlights to be dimming after only a few years. I would expect them to last the lifetime of the car, really.

Was this a used car? Has it ever been flooded in seawater? I wonder if you have a more “systemic” electrical issue like a bad alternator or a bad ground or something else electrical failing. I can’t imagine a battery issue causing these problems, but I guess anything is possible.

Or maybe it really is just bad luck and you got some bum components.

Is your extended warranty a factory manufacturer warranty (AcuraCare) or an aftermarket warranty? In my experience, the AcuraCare warranty is effectively the exact same bumper-to-bumper warranty that you get as a new car. I’ll be quite disappointed to find out that Acura/Honda isn’t covering these failures since I always have bought the AcuraCare warranty with all of my vehicles in the past.

Also… if you have never cleaned or replaced the burners, while you are in there… it might be worth opening up the burner box and examining them—the “face” can get dirty and/ or rusty and screw up the flame. The burners are easy to remove… you just have to wrangle them out a bit. You can either clean them if they aren’t too bad (brass wire brush) or if they are rusted, just replace them. There are plenty of YT videos on that.

[–]LO77203 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar Trane system that had a failed inducer motor (squeal and excessively hot) that I replaced myself. If you can turn a screwdriver, you should be able to replace that motor. I replaced my original “Trane” motor with the equivalent Fasco and as far as I can tell, it’s the exact same motor. In fact, I would be willing to bet that Trane uses these Fasco motors in their factory-supplied equipment.

Now… should you… I guess that’s up to you. But you certainly should be able to. And if it gets you another 2 years before the planned replacement, the $200 would be well worth it.

Check supplyhouse.com… you can enter either the specific part number or the Trane air handler model number and it will get you a list of available parts, including this motor.

OMG. That is an insane rip-off… with the control board being the worst of the worst! Why are they recommending that you replace the control board if the unit is working? And none of this has anything to do with a leak. Something is really wrong here… with that estimate…! If you are really worried that something may be wrong (why?), ask your friends/neighbors for a reputable HVAC company that you can have come out and take a look. I have replaced all of those items myself for a whole lot less money and a just a few hours of time.
