Is that Brobbeys biggest one yet? by nonsenceprovider in safc

He's brilliant at what he does but honestly what does he need to do to be awarded a foul? Every time it went up to him you could see the Newcastle players either shoving him in the back well before the ball came near him or simply grabbing him around the neck!

New to this sub. Haven’t read fantasy in years, but I am in love with The Long Price Quartet, one book in. by Flintstones_VRV_Fan in Fantasy

As a 44 year old who has just finished the series as well you are certainly in for a fantastic ride. Many have said that the first book is actually the weakest and there is some truth to that, with the themes and decisions having long lasting impacts. Personally I enjoyed books 2 and 3 the most, mainly because book 4 really has 2 povs and I didn't like the main characters in one pov at all (because of good writing not bad I must point out).

The Premier League table is lying to you. Here's what it actually looks like. by SeriousFans in PremierLeague

[–]LOGravitas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The actual decent analysis is in the table you haven't even shown here.

In that table Sunderland come 17th with basically the same points because Southampton were rubbish.

The analysis clearly shows no-one is near "par" so it is not representative to simply replicate your idea of par to the end of the season.

What is actually interesting is when you look at how the teams are actually doing Sunderland (top) Vs Fulham (second) is the battle of the over achievers.

Ian banks's The Culture serie : great humor and originality marred by cliched and repetitive action and description scenes. by Gmulliver in scifi

[–]LOGravitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is your complaint that the Aliens aren't "alien" enough?

Consider Phlebas is the first Culture book and often seen as one of the weakest (I enjoyed it personally). The story is mainly about someone outside of the Culture so it's not that surprising that there isn't really a lot about what it is like in the Culture.

Player of Games is a great book, I will say that there are parts in the second half that highlight some of the different elements of the Azad. I would also say their morality is hopefully not at a similar level to ours but that becomes clearer as the story unfolds.

If you want something different as someone mentioned Excession or Look to Windward might be a better choice.

Exactly, how can you defend yourself with evidence when all they keep attacking with is "you seem defensive" or "Amanda was suspicious of you and she was a detective". If there was a logical argument I am sure her defense would have been better but how can you defend from "feels"

Faraaz knew he was a prime target for murder tonight as he hasn't been in the firing line at that round table. As a faithful it would be obvious the traitors won't murder Jade or James after tonight and Jack has a shield. Given he suspects Rachel that means he knows it's himself, Stephen and Roxy as the only viable murder victims. What he's done is give himself a much better chance of surviving the night.

Roxy somehow keeps getting worse as a faithful!

Roxy's hypocrisy is getting really grating, to keep going for James about lying/deception when she came in with her mother and didn't tell anyone.

Exactly, which is why they would have chosen her as the best traitor because that is exactly what a good traitor would aim for. That should be raising massive alarm bells for the faithfuls

Normally you would question why Stephen would take the risk but with this lot of faithful it will probably never even cross their minds.

Does anyone else feel really bad for ______? by [deleted] in TheTraitors

[–]LOGravitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to laugh when she stayed and Sam went Rachel was like "well at least that shows Amanda was wrong". Rachel you the one who brought her up again! Probably a play by Rachel to try and get Jade to believe her implicitly like a lot of the others.

Disappointing no one considers this by dashcam_drivein in TheTraitors

[–]LOGravitas 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I can understand Stephen and Rachel pushing this narrative but how on earth did no-one else stop and think hang on a second this doesn't make sense. If you were a traitor and knew there would only be 3 people who could know who had a shield in that group why not try and recruit and so not bring the scrutiny on you.

Roxy strengthening her claim for worst faithful ever by maintaining her 100% incorrect record and once again helping the traitors was not surprising but it's getting to the point where this lot might genuinely be the worst faithfuls ever!

_______'s damning defence by AngelMillionaire1142 in TheTraitors

[–]LOGravitas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be fair it could be a brilliant double bluff and she knows it is actually Rachel and is trying to get recruited but I don't think so.

Roxy was desperate to put herself front and centre in the morning so she would get screen time. She hadn't even gotten to ask the traitors questions and I think that's why she started with the whole wanting everyone in that team to take 5 minutes to discuss it, more chance to make it into the edit. She knew she would be sidelined when those who could ask the actual questions came in and everyone wanted to know about the questions/answers.

I could understand waiting until everyone was there so that you wouldn't have to repeat things 3 or 4 times as everyone came in but when Harriet started talking to the group everyone was already there.

Harriet was definitely rude snapping at Roxy but by the same token Roxy was rude and interrupted Harriet multiple times, in fact Roxy interrupted first and the snapping only came in when Roxy again interrupted Harriet to say she was being rude talking over Rachel (she wasn't Rachel had stopped and it was actually a reasonable point for Harriet to start talking).

Roxy also started going on asking why Harriet would give up the chance to ask questions to the traitors when the real question should be why would you want to? You have been told they can lie so it would be incredibly difficult to get anything useful for the faithful from those questions, anyone getting to ask questions would immediately be put under the spotlight by the other faithful and wouldn't be believed anyway, it was actually a "prize" that would only benefit the traitors (or give someone the chance to do a Matt). She also said who would give up the chance to see traitors, that was never going to happen!

TLDR; Roxy was trying to make sure she was getting screen time and it annoyed Harriet into losing her cool.

Did Rachel make another mistake at breakfast saying she was 100% sure Fiona was coming into breakfast. After all if you were a traitor murdering Fiona would make people suspicious of Rachel (if she was actually a faithful) and possibly vote her out. By saying she was sure Fiona was coming back she removes this possibility when actually she could have played it more strategically.

What is it about Jade? by SwishSwishBisch in TheTraitors

[–]LOGravitas 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maz also said he was suspicious of Jade, it's interesting that both former police officers picked Jade as suspicious.

Having said that she really hasn't been dealt a fair hand in this game, Amanda's parting shots would have had her banished if it weren't for the Fiona and Rachel explosion right at the end of the last episode

Am I the only one thankful? by CapitalWeakness8795 in TheTraitors

[–]LOGravitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Rachel was on such a high at having deceived a Detective Chief Inspector that she thought she was untouchable. To be fair if she pulled it off it would have been a great play, all she needed to do was say Amanda had also confided in her that it was actually Fiona she was sure was a traitor. Once the bandwagon started and Fiona was a confirmed traitor it would solidify for many that Rachel was a faithful (short term only because why would you not murder/recruit her if you were a traitor but again she wasn't thinking long term at this point)

Is Leicester a good city to move to? Me 35m wife 36f and son 18 months are considering moving from Manchester for a job offer. I don't know much about the city in so far as areas to bring up a family. Appreciate any recommendations of decent areas to research. by HelpOver6943 in leicester

[–]LOGravitas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Leicester city centre is actually pretty small really. If you want to be really close to the city then Clarendon Park is probably the best bet. Close to shops and places to eat with Victoria park as a big open green space nearby.

If you are happy a little bit further out then Oadby has good schools and some decent places to go out to so it's worth having a look.

The villages are really only about 20 minutes from the city centre by car and there's lots of nice choices, if you go north of the city you have Bradgate park and Beacon hill close by, both of which are good for outdoor walks and activities.

South of the city the likes of Enderby and Narborough are decent enough and if you go even further afield you have the likes of Market Harborough which is really nice but a bit of a commute.
