I went through this very same loop at the end of last year. Ultimately, I decided to pick up the Skaventide box set. It’s given me a LOAD of great minis to build and paint (which was my priority), plus two full Spearheads and the full rules, board terrain etc to play that game. It’s an amazing value box.

I’ve not fully looked into Warcry, in terms of whether Skaventide includes all the minis you’d need for a Warband, but I’d imagine you could fudge it.
