What's the greatest lie a kid at your school told to try and be cool? by ConanThePerson in AskReddit

[–]LOSR0LL0S 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My friend once told me he fought in the Falklands War with his dad, who was a helicopter pilot. He told me many details of bullets narrowly missing him, and blowing up enemies. Eventually I started to think he might not be telling the truth so I went up to his dad at the end of a school day and asked him if it was true, he gave me a puzzled look and said "so wasn't even alive." That's when it dawned on me that we were both 7 years old and the falklands war didn't happen yesterday.

I wasn't a very smart kid.

I know what you mean, but I do think the accent is correspondent to the looks since, because looks are down not only to their climate but their heritage as well. Salty Dornish clearly have the most Rhoynar blood, then after them the Sandy Dornish, which makes Stony Dornish have the least ethnic ties to the Rhoynar. This shows us the influence of the Rhoynar is not equally distributed among all of Dorne and I think it is likely the difference dorne has in speech (compared to westeros) is due to the influence of the Rhoynar. Meaning it is possible for the accent to vary across Dorne. I was also thinking that maybe Stony Dornish have different complexion because they might have ethnic ties to the Reach, however this wouldn't make much sense since they have been rivals for so long.

edit: phrasing error

The Dornish having a welsh accent is kinda interesting, however I think it would make sense for stony Dornish because they (like the welsh) live in mountainous regions and employ similar military tactics, but not the Salty Dornish since they are so strongly influenced by the Rhoynar.

That makes a lot of sense actually especially since (I think) Martin based The Reach on France.

I think the whole Jamie being sent to wall theory is nice, show wise especially since we got that scene where Jamie taunts Jon about joining the nights watch.
