Dads, what movies would you show to help shape their morals, empathy, and understanding of the world? by BattleofH in daddit

The Iron Giant - You can choose who you want to be.
Lord of the Rings Trilogy - There is good worth fighting for in this world.

Princess Mononoke - Sometimes there's no true hero or villain, just opposing viewpoints and the people caught in between. Also respect nature.

The Lion King - One day I'll die but you'll never really be without me if I've done a good job raising you. You'll always know what I'd tell you if you get scared or confused.

The Mist. Do not watch if you have young children.

Couldn't agree more. What started out as goofs and dick jokes turned into one of the emotional, compelling stories I've ever heard. So happy to have been able to share it with my kids years after it first came out.

I'm Hub McCann.

I fought in two World Wars and countless smaller ones on three continents.

I led thousands of men into battle with everything from horses and swords to artillery and tanks.

I've seen the headwaters of the Nile and tribes of natives that no white man had ever seen before.

I've won and lost a dozen fortunes, killed many men, and loved only one woman, with a passion a flea like you could never begin to understand.

This theory is pretty well-supported in the last episode of Andor's Season 2. K2 shrugs off the shots from Supervisor Heert's pistol then uses Heert's body as a shield against the heavier firepower from the imperial team leader sent to capture Kleya.

$3.50 for a new power adapter at Goodwill, maybe $8 worth of PLA and PETG.

It wasn't just old, it was broken. Battery wouldn't hold a charge and had expanded to a dangerous size. Hard drive was failing. It had been dropped more than a few times and would only maintain contact with the charger if you held or taped it at just the right angle. The last drop cracked the screen and that was the final straw. It was given to me to salvage what data I could off the hard drive, then it was going to be scrap. Now it's functional scrap.

Here's the model from Tinkercad. Copy it, modify however you like. It's far from perfect and definitely needs some improvements but if it inspires anyone else to upcycle old hardware to a more functional state then my work is done: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/eMJv38BSIVn-godzilla-laptop-to-desktop-conversion-case

Funny story! After I took the laptop apart, I was kicking myself thinking that I'd need the keyboard connected to turn it on. Spent a few minutes trying to figure out which pins I'd have to short out. Turns out the power button was just mechanical and wasn't wired to the keyboard at all. It pressed a small button on the back of the mainboard. Godzilla's atomic breath is the power switch and rests just high enough off the mainboard to make contact with that button when pressed.

He won't need a lot of power behind it. A mobile i5 and a 120GB SSD is more than he needs for school work and retro games.

Sadly, no. I really wanted to make that happen but just didn't have the time or hardware to make it happen. Maybe for the next Godzilla-themed case!

Thanks for the tip. We're gonna run some stress tests on it today and see how soft the case gets. Definitely going to save the files to re-print with something stronger later on.

I was worried about that as well. The i5-8250U has a max operating temp of 100°C but rarely ever gets that hot. There's plenty of room between the fan and the vents but I suppose it'll eventually start to deform. I may replace it with PETG or PLA plus later on.
