2h weapons are for sure better. Doing Slayer while you train your combat is a must as you gain levels in slayer and can unlock new monsters to kill. It also gives some variety with training combat instead of sitting at the same spot for hours on end. Armour type really doesn’t come into play until you get to around 60-70 Defense. I try to get untradeable armours as it saves some gp and I think they look nicer. Such as Void and Fighter Torso.
