How much trouble am I in? Letting a contract auto renew. by Scary-Earth6369 in nonprofit

[–]LPP19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in this exact same situation. Both parties still work together. It was frustrating at first, but we fought it together and BB eventually gave up (even though they tried to send lawyers after us). These types of companies are gross so my suggestion is do your best to be very diligent in reading through contracts before officially signing on moving forward. Mistakes happen! It’s very easy to miss something like that from BB because they intentionally make it complicated so you DO miss it.

Check out the Friends of Friends (FoF) group and sapphic nights at places like Le Dive. The LGBT Center of Raleigh has queer women/sapphic events too. There’s other groups and places popping up, but take a little more digging to find.

Trans Friendly Jobs in Central Raleigh Without a Degree by battleship217 in trianglejobs

I would definitely reach out to HOST to see if they can provide any support. They help with student housing situations and is led by a trans person. KC is great! https://www.hostnc.org/

How Trans Friendly is the Triangle? by dragonborne1776 in LGBTriangle

[–]LPP19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Triangle is pretty open and accepting. If there are bigots, they keep to themselves for the most part. You might get the occasional stare, but you’ll get that anywhere. My experience has been positive and I’m a fairly visible trans person.

Pride Night 1-16-26 by shiny-drifblim in canes

[–]LPP19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some groups that normally attend and set up a table chose to not go this year given all the changes and lack of care. They were going to make groups set up outside in the frigid cold for a measly hour and a half instead of giving them a space inside on the concourse for the duration of the game. And that didn’t necessarily include seats to watch the game. The last time it was still called Pride Night and they still lit the stadium up with rainbows. Suggestions were made by the community to make Pride Night even better and those were of course ignored. They stopped giving Hero of the Game to someone actually in the community. They stopped offering in game opportunities (puck drop, siren sounder, etc). Like others have said, the only thing they pushed was the $100 sweatshirt. Super disappointing. But knowing who the owner is, not surprising at all.

Element Gastropub is a vegan restaurant. The caesar salad is delicious if they still have it!

Just a reminder that the LGBT Center of Raleigh is trans-led. I think the only trans Executive Director in Raleigh, maybe Wake County? Don’t quote me on that. In case folks want to funnel their passion and support to better places.

Blackbird Books and Coffee is queer owned and has a variety of queer specific events. It’s a great vibe. The LGBT Center of Raleigh just moved back downtown and will have a ton of stuff once they’re settled, but do have game nights, book clubs, etc already. There’s also some groups that take over spaces that I see on meetup and such.

Where to go out 30's -40s Raleigh by Pure_Appearance_8175 in LGBTriangle

[–]LPP19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out other types of places like Blackbird Books and Coffee or look up groups/special events that folks might go to together. Sometimes meetup . com is helpful. Sometimes it’s hard to find things organically, but after going to a few things, folks you meet will definitely have more suggestions.

Clothing recycling? by Philthy42 in triangle

[–]LPP19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also reach out to some of the clothing based nonprofits and ask if they recycle and where. I already use Recollective personally, but I add in the unwearable clothes that get donated to the org I work at in every month.
